Lots of folks back East, they say.

Well now. The Royal Albert Hall beckons and we are on our way. It's our annual 5-7.30 show at the Radio 2 Folk Awards and what an evening it promises to be. As so many have said, it's one of the most engaging and thrilling of awards evenings where the warmth of the welcome and the quality of the musicianship are both of the highest quality.

Tonight we can offer you lots of top performances and chat with Nick Lowe, Billy Bragg, and Al Stewart (amongst others), a folk club confession PLUS a countdown of Radio 2s most played folk songs. This has been a fascinating project with some fascinating results-what do you think is the number one? Remember it's not the best or even everyone's favourite, it's the most played. We'll get there just before 7.30 and speak to the artist/artists responsible. And to save further argument, the eligible songs are by 'singer/songwriters, bands and artists who are recognised folk names or who have cited folk as a major influence to their music'. Hmmm.

The strict dress code is 'wear what you want' which is excellent news. Let it all go.

Oh, and you get a day off the tune chasing.
