Well I tried. The school run is normally accompanied with assorted music stations (Chris in the mix of course but we don't quite play quite enough trance-dub-step to keep my passengers happy) but I suggested that maybe the PM's speech was important enough to change our listening habits, for one day only. This was met with derision of course and maybe they were right, maybe the day was best set up with a few melodies and beats. When it comes to the radio choice, I like to think I have the deciding vote (democracy in action) but sometimes the desire for a quiet life has to win out and the kids are in control (mob rule in action). Spending the 20 minute journey explaining how the EU works was beyond me, so we talked about whether Jake Bugg was a surprising Radio One playlist song or not. This seemed a better use of our time.
We could do REFERENDUM oldies however and that will work just fine.
Today we welcome Suggs and Woody to talk Madness and the next leg of their extraordinary career. Festivals, racecourses, their own festival, Suggs' one man show, a new album and songs on the R2 playlist. And the workings of the EU, obviously.
Have a decisive and empowering Wednesday. See you after 5.
