#Strummer6Music - help pick the Ultimate Joe Strummer Playlist
An inspiration to a whole generation of musicians and music fans, Joe Strummer was truly a renaissance man; punk, film score composer, actor and even BBC broadcaster.
Ten years on and Strummer’s star burns as brightly as ever, from the charity set up in his name – Strummerville – to a host of contemporary musicians including Emmy The Great and Frank Turner citing him as an influence.
To mark the tenth anniversary of his death we want you to help us create the Ultimate Joe Strummer Playlist for this very special Now Playing.
So what do you want to hear? It could be:
• Your favourite Clash tracks, B-sides, rarities or bits from his other projects
• Early rock and roll which influenced him like Little Richard, The Beach Boys and Woody Guthrie
• Other bands he played in, from The Mescaleros to The Pogues and Big Audio Dynamite
• Someone you’ve seen at the area named after him at Glastonbury
• Any of Joe’s friends from Billy Bragg and Lilly Allen to Shaun Ryder
You need to tell us what to play so leave a comment on our Facebook page or this blog, Tweet #Strummer6Music, send us an e-mail or drag a track onto our Spotify playlist.
And remember, if you’re a Joe Strummer fan, tune in on Sunday at 6pm.
