Stephen Malkmus

After discussing the possibilities with you on Facebook, it appears building a playlist around Stephen Malkmus of Pavement, and more recently the Jicks, is the best topic for the show tomorrow night (August 19).

Malkmus has been a hot topic of conversation this week with his new album, Mirror Traffic, produced by Beck, streaming at the Guardian ahead of its release – and in fact it’s even going to be 6 Music’s album of the day on Monday when it comes out.

We would like your suggestions of tracks to hear on the show tomorrow, such as:

* Tracks from Stephen Malkmus himself

* Anything from Pavement or perhaps the Silver Jews

* How about something from Beck – either his own stuff or other bits he’s produced like Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Jamie Lidell or something from Twilight!

* Domino artists

* Artists from California

* People Stephen Malkmus was inspired by or who he has subsequently inspired

* Nigel Godrich produced Pavement's Terror Twilight so maybe something Radiohead, Supergrass or REM

* Or maybe even The Fall as Mark E. Smith once called Pavement a “rip-off” of his band

Please let us know your ideas – we’d love to hear them either by leaving a comment here, going over to our Facebook page, Tweeting or e-mailing us or drag a track onto our collaborative Spotify playlist.

We look forward to hearing from you and join us tomorrow, with Tom Robinson, from 7pm on BBC 6 Music.

    Anything from 'American Water' by Silver Jews, which features Malkmus frequently. 'We Are Underused' from 'Brighten The Corners' is worth a spin too.

    this sounds very promising ... I'd go for ...

    Pavement - Kentucky Cocktail [Peel session] (cos of the bassline, and the guitar solo, and "SSSNNNNAAAAKE!") ... and Grounded, of course

    Silver Jews - Tide To The Oceans

    Stephen Malkmus/Jicks - Fractions & Feelings

    The Fall - The Classical

    Beck - Lost Cause

    Cymbals Eat Guitars (heavily influenced by Pavement) - Cold Spring

    I'd love to hear Out of Reaches. My favorite SM and Jicks track.
