Pulp

Prince, Pulp or Noel. Noel, Pulp or Prince – the debate has been going back and forth on Facebook as to what we should base the playlist around for this week’s Now Playing… And by general consensus (just), passion and panache - Pulp have come out on top.

Their reunion for a series of summer gigs has been talked about a lot, and their headline slot at Wireless last Sunday has been met with a lot of online chat.

As well as this, the band immediately afterwards announced two more London gigs at Brixton Academy.

Some of the reasons given on Facebook from fans who were in Hyde Park last weekend were:

“I haven't stopped smiling ever since! It was amazing!!”

“It was stunning, a really great gigs to all the fans, Jarvis's energy was relentless and the sound was brilliant. Some more "His and Hers" would have been nice but thats a minor criticism.”

“I saw Pulp at Wireless, Jarvis was amazing and even managed to incorporate 'on this day' which was great as I've missed hearing him on Sundays.”

So, let us know your suggestions for the Ultimate Pulp Playlist. They could be:

• Tracks from the band themselves

• Sheffield bands

• Acts from Island Records

• Brit Pop acts (an opportunity for all those Noel fans perhaps)

• Side Projects/Collaborations

• … Michael Jackson?!?

Leave a comment here, join in the debate on Facebook, Tweet us, e-mail us or drag a song into our Spotify playlist.

And remember to listen to the show this Friday (July 8) from 7pm with Tom Robinson.

As for a Pulp related collaboration I'd love to hear 'Ciao' featuring Lush and Jarvis. Miki Berenyi Lush's front lady descibed working with Jarvis thus " "He went straight into the booth did all that heavy breathing stuff and singing in those shivering tones of his. And he did a little bit in the middle which he made up himself . He did a fantastic job " Ciao really should have been a single. And maybe through in Richard Hawley's amazing cover of 'Some Candy Talking' for good measure?
