The theme this week - Nick Cave
Nick Cave is your chosen topic for this week’s now playing. The guitarist who plays with his Bad Seeds, and more recently Grinderman, has helped score a new film Dias de Gracia (Days of Grace) directed by Everado Valerio Gout.
After recent screenings at the Cannes Film Festival, the Mexican thriller weaves three storylines across three football World Cups, with a different musical team composing the soundtrack for each thread in the movie.
Nick Cave has teamed up with Warren Ellis – the pair having worked together since 1995 in the Bad Seeds as well as Grinderman.
So what could you choose? The list is endless – anything Nick Cave is an obvious choice, but how about…
• Primal Scream after Bobby Gillespie joined Grinderman as backing vocalist during their performance at All Tomorrow’s Parties in 2007
• Something Shane MacGowan when they covered Bob Dylan’sDeath is Not the End
• Johnny Cash as both have covered each others work
• PJ Harvey who featured on Cave’s Murder Ballad’s album
• Or Massive Attack – who have also recorded a song for Days of Grace with Scarlett Johansson
• Equally acts he has influenced and been influenced by

saw them live last year, had to track them down to see them again - phenomenal energy at their gigs, good songs to.
Best track on their EP (and their single) is called 'Frantic Romantic' - I snatched it off iTunes.
