Denise Welch is set to make a guest appearance in EastEnders later this Spring, playing the role of Kyle’s mum, Alison Slater.
Kyle, played by Riley Carter Millington, arrived on the Square late last year and dropped the bombshell that he’s Stacey’s half-brother after her father, Brian, married his mum. Despite a rocky start between the pair when - Stacey insisted Brian only had daughters - Kyle recently admitted the truth... he’s transgender.
Alison’s arrival is set to cause a stir when it’s revealed she’s struggled to accept her son’s choice to transition. How will Alison react to seeing her son as Kyle for the first time and will Stacey be able to look past the bigamous marriage Alison had with Brian?
“I’m so thrilled to be part of such an iconic show; it’s so exciting!" Denise told us. "I have several friends on the show and it’s a great crowd so I can’t wait to get started. It’s a short stint but such a powerful role and I’m thrilled to be taking this on.”
Denise is a well-established actress and television presenter, best known for her roles in Waterloo Road, Boy Meets Girl and Holby City.
