@Adamn it's because Derick saves Lauren and Joey from a fire in the lead up to christmas when they plan to run off together, obivously he is grateful to his dad for this and tbh no matter how bad your dad was if he died you would be devastated

I saw a picture where Derek is chased by a group of thugs. Will they kill him? And why they are chasing him? Will all of his dodgy deals catch up with him after all? Or is he Kat's mystery lover, so Alfie will find out and hire someone to kill him?

I seriously dont get why this is even up? Why spoil Eastenders for everyone at xmas? I wont enjoy as much now I know everything... Brainless people putting web pages up like this

my page loaded and was halfway down the page I read the first bit about Derick dies did not know anythink would be up about the Christmas storyline even tho I did not read on I'm really annoyed they put the news and spoilers under the same section .And they should not give the Christmas storyline away anyway.I heard its going to be an explosive Christmas so I am guessing it is going to be another fire witch if that's the case it is going to be really stupid after there was one last year .I am glad Derick is being written out of the show as I never thought he was a good character in the show . Last years Christmas episode was awful probably one of Eastenders worst so this years better be alot better

Derek was a very good actor ,his stories lines was awful...but he as an actor is fantastic.

To be honest I think it's a shame Derek is leaving. Although when he joined, there didn't seem to be a single redeeming feature about him, since Alice and Joey joined, EastEnders have found the right balance with him and he's actually become almost a bit likeable! But as with every good soap villain, he had to die at some point!

the reason joey is so upset about his dads death is because derek saves him and lauren from a fire that happens just before christmas because joey and lauren plan to run away together but they crash into a shop and theres an explostion, and even if you really hate your dad your still going to be upset if he dies and no its not the people chasing him that kill him its someone that lives on albert sqaure the supects are

Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!Not Derek!!

Glad derek is being killed off he think he is the toughest on the square and his charcter really winds me up I will be putting out the flags when he goes.He is such a big head and wants to think he is bigger than Phil Mitchell.

I don't know why people complain about giving the "Christmas Storyline/New Years Storyline" away. Considering it isn't JUST BBC who give out the storyline. I read about Derek Dying a couple of weeks ago on some soap spoiler website. So no point in complaining to BBC about it considering it's not just those who post the images etc.

Anyway, I'm not really a big Derek fan due to how his character is. The character only thinks about himself and lies constantly especially towards his family. I think Eastenders will be a lot better without him there. Thing's will go back to normal, etc. Although I do see Alice leaving at some point due to Derek not being around and Joey being off with Lauren etc. Who knows but thank you Eastenders for letting Derek Branning go, he really wasn't needed!

I Think this is how Derek should die when Kat tells Alfie that her secret lover is Derek then Alfie and Max have a chat about what did Derek did to both of them and they have hire a gang to kill Derek. While Joey is going to bury the hatchet so they can both we son and dad but in the end derek dies

I hope his murder is a whodunnit, Eastenders always does them best

Is right at the top before any preview is spoiled :p pretty brain dead to read on if you don't want to know haha. Some people like to know what's next in the storyline, others don't. If your one who doesn't simply don't read it and then accuse the publishers for being brain dead, you were warned and didn't have to read on :p.
