Take a look at what's coming up in the week commencing 29th October.

Joey keeps an eye on his drunk cousin when she decides (once again) to drown her sorrows in the R&R. After walking her home, Lauren moves in for a kiss and it looks like Joey doesn't mind one bit! We have a feeling there are a few people who will though!

I know that this is just a TV show however, a storyline like this is just so very wrong. They are related and in some sick way the BBC are almost condoning this type of relationship/behavior to all viewers. Do you not think that is completely wrong and totally disgusting to watch?. I would not be surprised of the shows ratings dropping after that episode is shown.

Can't WAIT for this!!! @ Rin BBC isn't condoning anything! Not really! It's not illegal! Then again a lot of these topics on EE are very often "too little too late" To be condoned!

how is this wrong????? has everyone forgotten about sharon and dennis although they was not brother and sister buy blood they acted like they should have been and tbh lauren and joey have just ment really soo it not like they have grown up together as family..... it might be like when sharon and dennis got together and tbh eastenders is gettin boring they need stories like this and also proper gangsters would be good................

yeah that just show only TV but it is true happen outside people can love cousin each other... maybe you not see out there? some people in birmingham and some london have fancy each other same as cousin... TV show you because they view out people was like that..they copy people put on Eastenders it is true.

I always wondered if the reason Tanya hates Derek so much is that she may have had an affair with him in the past. It would be interesting if this is all leading up to Tanya revealing that Lauren may be Derek's daughter, not Max's

Did you really have to zoom in so close?

This storyline between Lauren & Joey is obviously leading to something and the big Branning Christmas we are due, and if all the internet rumours are true and the TPTB decide to completely re-write Max & Tanya's back story to suddenly have Derek actually being Lauren's father - all for the sake of making an "explosive" Christmas it will be a joke. I really hope this isn't the case, people have been talking about this ever since Derek's arrival last November and with Tanya's lingering hate of him....if they go down this route then they seriously want new writers, because it shows how lacking in imagination they are when viewers can guess a plot over a year before it happens!

Like others have said this is not illegal. They do not appear to have grown up together so I can understand there being an attraction now they see eachother everyday. As for EE losing viewers and condoning this, I can't see that happening as anyone who has ever watched Emmerdale knows cousins have been in relationships for years, Cain & Charity, Butch & Mandy, Charity & Marlon....

This is a soap people there's been loads of storyline and plots that people don't like or agree with but let's be honest if it was all sunshine and daffodils with no grit your teeth moments then it'll be a pretty boring show eastenders are right on the money with there storylines like ronnies baby swap sharron and denis's relationship cats affairs Sonya having a baby so young gay relationships lola's baby being taken into care and loads loads more if you didn't like the show then why watch it because not everyone who watches eastenders has the same views as for Lauren and joeys relationship it is wrong but we still love it :) x

I will find this very uncomfortable to watch when it all happens, i cant see the BBC avoiding complaints over this storyline

My god! reading @khan's comment was mentally draining! It took alot to understand the backwards language because it definatly was NOT english!

  • Comment number 17.

absolute rubbish!!!if anyone agrees that they need new writers!...It is just the thing we need for an explosive christmas!!!!!great storyline!afterall it's what tellie is all about!!!

If people complain over this storyline then theyre just drama queens. There is nothing wrong with it, its a soap! People, pinch yourselves for christ sake. This is exactly why people love and watch eastenders in the first place - the storylines! Wrong or right it s a soap and for those saying 'i will feel uncomfortable or angry when i watch this' - heres an idea for you... DONT WATCH IT?! thumbs up to eastenders for finding yet ANOTHER GREAT christmas storyline! i will be watching from the edge of my seat!

I have found everybody's comments so interesting because although this has never happened to me, I have a novel coming out next year about this very thing. As soon as I heard this was coming out on Eastenders I protected my work to make sure I couldn't be done for plagiarism!

Genetic Sexual Attraction (GSA) is on the rise as more blood relatives meet as adults because of adoption and early separation. It is a very real thing. What stops this happening to families who grow up together from children is something called the Westermarck Effect. My novel is written from the point of view of four people, the two cousins who meet as adults and fall in love, a family friend who is utterly disgusted by the whole thing, and a girl who has no idea her boyfriend is cheating on her with his cousin. Such a provocative and divisive subject meant this was a real meaty, satisfying write for me. I was mortally upset when I found out this storyline was coming out on Eastenders before the release of my novel, but now I can't wait to watch it!
