EastEnders nominated for Mind Media Award
EastEnders has been nominated in the soap category at the Mind Media awards. The Mind Media awards celebrate the best portrayals of mental health in the media, and we’re nominated for Ian’s breakdown storyline.
EastEnders worked closely with Time to Change, an anti-stigma campaign, to make sure Ian’s situation was portrayed accurately. Time to Change is run by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness. We also worked closely with Time to Change supporter Kevin Shepherd, who advised the writers from first hand experience of mental illness.
Last years winners included Casualty and BBC Radio 5 Live’s Victoria Derbyshire show. This year's winners will be announced on the 19th of November.
