OH. WHAT. A. GONGTASTIC. NIGHT.

EastEnders graced the o2 Arena stage not once, not twice, but three magnificent times at the prestigious National Television Awards. All thanks to YOU!

As well as clinching the Best Serial Drama award after a tremendous year of dramatic performances, the much-loved Ricky Norwood scooped Most Popular Newcomer for Fatboy, and lovely Lacey beat off stiff competition (including Steve McFadden) to clinch the Outstanding Serial Drama Performance gong as Stacey. Kerching.

Before Simon Cowell could even warm his seat in the front row, Ricky Norwood was presented with the Newcomer award as ruuuuude bwooyy Fatboy, innit.

The actor slid away from his gorgeous girlfriend, Jade Ewen, and excitedly thanked his way through his acceptance speech with special appreciation for his nan and fans: "YES. WOW. Thank you to every single person who voted.

"And thank you to my nan who has guided my path. And thank you people out there. YEEAAH!" Brilliant.

AlisonnLOVEE wrote on Twitter: 'SOOOO pleased for Ricky Norwood! I love him'

Buffbeany added:‎ '#ntas Congrats to Ricky Norwood, aka Fatboy from EastEnders on becoming Best Newcomer!!!'

Dina on Facebook wrote: 'I love this guy!!! He brings some spark, and laughter to the screen... Love you Fatboy xxx !!!!!

Next to grace the stage for EastEnders was the lovely, and surprisingly shy Lacey Turner.

The actress, who left our soap screen at Christmas as sassy Stacey, has had a magnificent year which had us gasping in horror as she admitted to being Archie's killer in the February live episode.

She also saw her husband, Bradley, fall to his death *sob*, and had to flee the Square at Christmas with Lily.

Lacey (looking glam in a lovely black number) accepted the Outstanding Performance gong for the third time by saying: "Thank you very much to everyone who has voted for me over the last six years, and supported me.

"And thank you to everyone at EastEnders. I learnt so much whilst I was there. And thank you to all of my family for putting up with me!” (Surely she's not a handful like Stacey!?)

Vicki supported Lacey's win on Facebook: 'HUGE congrats to Lacey - there is no one more deserving. She rocks x x x'

Samantha added: 'Lacey u did it again, and I never doubted u would!! Amazing actress. So sad u left Walford, but all the best for the future xxx'

-lyndsey- tweeted: 'Lacey Turner is brilliant - definitely deserved that award #ntas'

And lastly, *after wiping tears following legendary Bruce Forsyth's speech for Special Recognition* EastEnders took the most coveted award of the night... for Best Serial Drama!

Nitin Ganatra (Masood) and Nina Wadia (Zainab) pointed out that the award is never taken for granted, as "the competition is superb."

They also thanked the fans for voting and added: "The show wouldn't be what it is without the commitment and the diverse issues."

Sarah wrote on Facebook: 'Nice one enders great storylines you all deserve it cast and crew x'

The biggest-ever National Television Awards was all it promised it would be... and more. It had the red carpet glamour, the nail-biting drama, crazy dancing (from energy spark Louie Spence), the magical music performances, a few tears, and of course a few whopping gongs thrown in too!

All that can be left to say is... 'you're twisting my melon, man.' (Big up Shaun Ryder and Stacey Soloman's opener.) Brilliant.

We just have to do it all again next year...

Thanks again for voting folks.

really pleased for ricky and EE but a bit gutgted steve didnt get it. it was his only chance i doubt he'll get nominated again :(

  • Comment number 4.

    congratulations.

2010 was a great year for Eastenders and I have been a dedicated viewer for years.

Would still be watching it but following the very emotional baby swap story line I switched ..Admittedly it took a while but I am now getting used to evenings without Eastenders.

My whole TV viewing has expanded to channels I wouldn't have looked at before .I have to say a big thankyou for opening up my viewing world. CSI / JUDGE JUDY AND COME DINE WITH ME ..

However when the case accepted THE BEST DRAMA SERIES AWARD .Nitin Ganatra (Masood) took things a little to far with his comments .not only did he say

The show wouldn't be what it is without the commitment and the diverse issues."

but he added " we try and bring humour to real life issues"

I AND MANY OTHERS FIND NOTHING HUMOUROUS ABOUT THE DEATH OF A BABY AND THE GRIEF THAT SHE WOULD GO DRIVE A WOMAN TO GO OUT AND STEAL ANOTHERS BABY.

well done eastenders. truly the best.

  • Comment number 6.

Thanks all for your comments! It was a brilliant evening for EastEnders, and it's all thanks to you guys!

Hey weston - I heard Nitin say: "... and there's a pepper of humour in there somewhere." I don't believe he was referring to the recent storyline, but other scenes.

Thanks for your votes again and I hope you enjoyed the award ceremony. It was definitely a corker.

  • Comment number 7.

    YES!!!! EastEnders won 3/3 awards!!!!!!!!

  • Comment number 8.

Well done Eastenders! Although I didn't watch it, is there anyway to watch it on the internet? Or will it be reappearing on TV?

Lacey is a brilliant actress and I wish her the very best for the future, I would hope for a return of the beautiful face :).

Well done Ricky, Fatboy is a officially a legend in Eastenders.

  • Comment number 9.

Congrats to Lacey Turner and Ricky on their awards! Ricky desreved his best newcomer award and lacy deserved her drama performance! But Enders didn't deserve best soap awards because of the cot death storyline. Corrie's tram crash beat it by miles!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment number 10.

although i love eastenders i dont think they deserved to win best soap but then again they should have won last year. what goes around comes around i surpose :)

  • Comment number 11.

  • Comment number 14.

WELL DONE EASTENDERS U RELLI DESERVED 2 WIN N DID ANY ONE SEE JACK SHEPARDS (DAVID PLATT) FROM CORRIE REACTION WHEN CORRIE DIDNT WIN

  • Comment number 15.

congratulations lacey and ricky and the rest of the cast u deserved to win x

  • Comment number 16.

Congratulations to everyone at Eastenders I must have voted about three times and when it was announced my husband said I was cheering like I had won the lottery! Fantastic it just goes to prove that Eastenders is the best soap ever. p.s. I dont think it is right that some people were saying on tv that Coronation Street was robbed and a certain tv presenter said that she was really angry, how is it going to make the cast of Eastenders feel when they get interviewed on her show if it were me I would think she was being false towards me after that. Anyway congratulations Eastenders xxx and a special congratulations to Lacey Turner she is a brilliant actress and I wish her all the best for the future and xxxx

p.s. Jack Shepards face was a picture ha ha!

  • Comment number 17.

well done to eastenders on there fab win, i love watching eastenders, one wish would be for kat an alf to get tommy back, xxxx

  • Comment number 18.

Fair enough on the first two wins.. Ricky as Fatboy is absolutely brilliant.. second to none comedy on the square & Lacey as Stacey makes for fantastic viewing, she really is a talented and believable actress! On the other hand, EastEnders winning 'best serial drama' ?? Sorry, but really was not deserved. Coronation Street should have won easily, especially after 'Tram Week'.

  • Comment number 20.

Congratulation! all 3 were well desreved xx

  • Comment number 21.

Im stunned to be honest!!! Lacey ofcourse is far too talented for the mind numbingly dull scripts that the Eastenders writers churn out, and thats probably why she left. I cant fairly comment on Ricky as I havent really seen him that much on screen.

But Eastenders wining the Best Serial Drama??

It is the biggest joke of all as Eastenders in my opinion is possibly worse now than Eldorado when that got finally scrapped from our screens!

  • Comment number 22.

However, credit where credit is due. Who would have thought that all those years ago when we were first introduced to Zainab Masood's fear of a "Cookery Book" as it brought back painful memories for her, that we would later find ourselves on the edge of our seats wondering if Tamwar would bring to the restraunt the daughter of the ex-husband whos wife started the fire which lead to Zainabs fear of cookery books.

Its hardly a "Lost" style twist, but the writers did give it a go.

  • Comment number 23.

Eastenders is amazin luv everyone xx

  • Comment number 24.

Congrats to Lacey and Ricky well deserved, however as much as i like and admire EE, i did feel sorry for Corrie, if there had been any justice they would have won best Continuing Drama. Their live ep was outstanding in every sense of the word. But EE should have won last year and lost out to Corrie, so alls fair in love and soap. Congrats must go to the Beeb's EE website, they seem to get their fans to vote better than the opposition. Perhaps this is also to do with the fact the EE audience is some what younger than the Corrie audience and they tend to vote less.

P.S If we are talking Barb viewing figures 9 time out of ten Corrie is ahead in the ratings by over a million viewers. And finally Jack P Shepherds face was a picture. Bless.

  • Comment number 25.

i knew they'd win, they do every year

  • Comment number 26.

Congratulations to Lacey for her award. She really is a fantastic actress and I'm sure we will see much more of her in the future. Eastenders consistantly outshines the other serial dramas, in my opinion. I would like to see some happier storylines, but that's just me.

  • Comment number 27.

perhaps corrie will have more luck with the bafta's or the rts awards. :-)

  • Comment number 28.

If This Was On FaceBook, I'd Like It :)

  • Comment number 29.

Well done to LACEY TURNER!! The greatest actress on British TV at the moment, and it's so strange how she's soo shy in real life but soo gobby as Stacey!

  • Comment number 30.

This comment was removed because the moderators found it broke the house rules. Explain.

  • Comment number 31.

Sorry but I have to say yes people are entitled to their opinions but for those few who come on here and say that Eastenders did not deserve to win the award is sheer cheek! They are not proper fans of Eastenders in my opinion :(

  • Comment number 32.

WOOOO GO EASTENDERS!!!!!!!!! ;) I voted & so thrilled that EastEnders won, a well deserved win in my eyes! Corrie must be gutted though as it's their 50th! Woops! :)

  • Comment number 33.

biggesteastendersfan I know! I thought I was the only one who noticed! Very subtle of him, huh? :)

  • Comment number 34.

Congratulation for the best soap opera ever, can someone try to persuade Stacy to come back please. The part about swapping babies was in bad taste it should have never been written in the script. Please who ever writes the scripts when ever you send any one on holidays can you please mention my beloved MALTA where i live instead of your actors always going to Spain.

  • Comment number 35.

I think Eastenders deserves all the awards they received! I have been watching it for years and make sure I always Sky+ record when I can't be home to watch!

Those who cannot separate fact from fiction and have complained about the recent 'baby swap' storyline should keep their issues with this story to themselves and not ruin the soap for the majority of the population who have no issue at all.

Well done Eastenders! You really do offer true entertainment! Can't wait to see if Lacey Turner returns to our screens at some point-she is greatly missed!

Any part I can come and play in the soap? That would be fab!

  • Comment number 36.

well done EastEnders you defently deserve that award!!!!

also well done to Lacey and Rikki.

i thought corrie would win coz the tram crash and there 50th.

AND JACK P SHEPHERDS FACE WAS LOLTASTIC!!!!!

BUT EASTENDERS R THE BEST!!! I AM THE BIGGEST FAN OF EASTENDERS!!!

i also like waterloo road and OMG George Sampsons in it he is sooooooo FIT!!! LOL xxx
