Comparethe Tweet from Breaking News Online (BNO) and the Tweet from a journalist showing the different times the wires reported the crash in comparison with Breaking News Online. As you can see, the Tweet was the first.

The Bangkok events

There were some great journalists Tweeting from the scene - some official and some citizen journalists. The Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail has a really good piece summing up how important Twitter was in the conflict.

The article also opens with a number of journalists eating lunch together in Bangkok, hearing bangs and all immediately going to Twitter to find out what was happening as they couldn't wait for 'old media'.

Also, an interesting comparison with Iran. During the Iran protests, Twitter was used exclusively by the anti-government groups; in Thailand both sides were using Twitter.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Cohen from Channel 4 News was outside the building where the talks were being held - his piece describes how they were being updated by the Tweets.

Famous now, but William Hague saying he was going back into talks with the Lib Dems is still pretty damn powerful.
