Tuesday 27 September 2011, The Frontline Club, London
Martin Bell has reported from 11 countries and more than 80 wars; from Angola to Vietnam. He was one of the first journalists to be defined as a 'war correspondent'.
Martin joined the BBC in 1962 and is one of the best known and distinguished journalists of his generation. Twice awarded the Royal Television Society's Reporter of the Year award, Martin changed course in 1997 and successfully ran as an independent MP on an anti-sleaze ticket in the Tatton constituency, against the Conservative Neil Hamilton.
He will be joining us at the Frontline Club with former BBC executive Vin Ray to look back on a career that includes an OBE, a shrapnel injury in Bosnia and five books including A Very British Revolution: The Expenses Scandal and How to Save Our Democracy.
