The Art of the Interview
BBC correspondent Razia Iqbal talks to BBC presenter Jeremy Vine about his career as a broadcaster.
Jeremy Vine is known for his journalism, but he also loves music and happily combines the two in his own show on BBC Radio 2.
He started his career in journalism as a trainee on the Coventry Evening Telegraph, before making his name as a reporter on BBC Radio 4's Today programme and as the BBC's Africa correspondent based in Johannesburg. He is one of the few BBC journalists to have been granted an interview by Robert Mugabe.
His 1999 Newsnight film on police brutality in South Africa won the Silver Nymph at Monte Carlo and resulted in the suspension of 22 police officers.
Jeremy has presented Newsnight and Panorama. This summer he won a Sony award for his interview with Gordon Brown during the 2010 general election campaign, just after his unfortunate encounter with "that bigoted woman", Gillian Duffy.
