Event: Are News Interviews Too Similar?

Tagged with:

In the Art of the Interview season, top presenters, interviewees, commentators and broadcasting executives discuss how to get the best out of interviews.

Are news interviews on the BBC too similar, as producers scramble to get the best interviewees for their own output? Does the ineradicable logic of news dictate that the BBC ends up with interviews which all sound the same - the opposite of what programme-makers are striving for?

The panel:

Stephen Mitchell - Head of Multimedia Programmes, BBC News

Peter Bazalgette - Media consultant and digital investor

Jane Garvey - Presenter, Woman's Hour, BBC Radio 4

Raymond Snoddy - Presenter, NewsWatch, BBC News Channel

In the Chair: BBC correspondent Nick Higham

Wednesday 4 May 2011

1.30pm - 2.30pm

Room 5

6th Floor Suite

BBC Television Centre

London W12

The event is open to all BBC staff. If you'd like to attend, please email cojoevents@bbc.co.uk.
