Jane Garvey joined the Woman’s Hour team as a presenter in October 2007. Jane was born and grew up in Liverpool and then went to Birmingham University where she studied English. Jane started her media career as a promotions assistant for Radio Wyvern where she later became news editor before leaving in 1988 to join BBC Hereford And Worcester as a reporter. In 1989 she became the station’s Breakfast presenter.
Jane was the first voice on Radio 5 live when it was launched in March 1994, as co-presenter on The Breakfast Programme. She finished a 13 year run as co-host of the network’s Drivetime programme, with Peter Allen.
Jane has two young daughters, aged nine and six. She loves reading, baths, football, talking and is learning to cook. Her ambition is to live in a lavish yet minimalist home but she recognises that won't ever happen.
