16 and 17 November 2009, University of Central Lancashire, Preston
Open 09 was a two-day event/unconference/barcamp (whatever you'd like to call it) set up by the BBC College of Journalism and UCLan. The idea was to, in the broadest of terms, debate and discuss the future of journalism, the media and the wider creative industries in the digital age.
It was a brave concept to put together such an eclectic mix of people, to discuss the most importance issues at the centre of what we do. People from all backgrounds; the BBC and other mainstream media, freelancers, bloggers, academics, students, indies and social media commentators all joined in.
There is a mass of content and comment from the two days, on the Open09 website, and on Christian Payne's posterous page.
