I can't say I was Michaela's biggest fan but i'm glad she found Regus.



I love how Hal said, 'Heres an idea. Order something or get out'. when she called Tom simple.



It showed he had Toms back. Tom is so naive and innocent he didn't deserve that. Reminded me of Steinbecks 'Of mice and men'.

I know she wasn't everyone's cup of tea but I loved Michaela. I thought she played it just right and I absolutely loved her throwing the money at Hal (I think he had a chest protector on - you could hear the coins hit off it). Anyway I say Well Done Laura - You Did Good! Hope you come back with Regus for S5 if not sooner!

Soooo... just picking up where the last blog left off....



I thought that when Fergus called Hal 'Lord' or 'my Lord' he did it in a slightly mocking, almost sneering, way at first. And then he saw the look in Hal's eyes and decided not to push it. So I am going with those that said Hal somehow 'became' a Lord, because Hal did say in the prequel that he was born in a brothel and didn't know his father. But that doesn't tie in with the 'Lord Harry' title or Hal's near break-down in the café when Michaela throws money at him and his speech then. But neither of these things tie in with the 'competition' as to who has done the worst job - Hal mentioned some really bad jobs there! But ultimately, and this is the fun bit, there is just soooo much to find out about Hal! Complexity of characterisation is what Lord Toby does best.

No way are we ever going to find out everything we want to know about Hal in this Series alone.

I am rewatching the episode and when Fergus lists the vampires at the beginning of the episode he mentions Mr Snow but not as Hal's maker. Could it be that his maker is even older than Mr Snow? Wouldn't it be cool if it was Count Dracula himself?

Just seen that green box message again... hhhmmm... I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that some of our blogs have been 'closed for comments'?



It's not really fair on the BH fans in USA/Canada - they don't see the first Ep until this Sunday and they have stayed away from the Blog because of spoilers. They will want to comment when they get here and won't be able to... I know the BBC don't like to keep a lot of Blogs open at the same time because Mods are pretty stretched - but we've always been fairly good here - I mean in the last 4 years there has only ever been one spammer banned and in comparrison to other Blogs that's amazing. And in all that time only one Blog was closed for comments. Just saying..... I don't know how these things work - but if the BBCUK make money from BBCA and BBCAustralia/NZ and by Netflix and selling it to other countries - then surely everyone should get to see the whole package? Oh well, like I said, don't really know how this business works...



Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, love the idea that Cutler was sired by Wydham - (but not Hal) just love it - Cutler seems to be the type and I also like the idea that vamps were just 'putting up with him' because of that. It now makes more sense as to why Fergus and crew just 'ate the focus group' and Cutler was helpless. But I agree that we need to know a bit more about him - he justs seems like a bit of a non-entity to me right now. I don't really 'get' him.

Michaela ; well she had to become un-dead and she knew too much and loved Ivan and Daisy touch.



Loved the old lady at the end, quiet dignity , not worried at all to cross over, eager to carry on her long life in the most normal of way. A very subliminal message from TW.



And a final bow to the previous trio. 'con men' says Hal, good bye Real Hustle when a vampire and a werewolf were trying to get a house, a job and a tv license and were dressed in 'other people's clothes'. Con men, George who pretended not to be a werewolf , who denied the wolf and Mitchell who looked for salvation. You are a shark, be a shark said Herrick. Annie who tried so much; not to be a ghost, not to remember reality, prefering lies in season 1, unsure about being a ghost and finally looking for love, a dead woman for an un-dead man. Madness.

New supernatural trinity, wiser.



Now it is the turn of the Antique Roadshow, with ancient scrolls, a werewolf who has no shame or fear of being what he is anf why should he. Tom is a nice guy. Annie accepts she is a spirit and now tries to be an immaculate protective holy ghost as for Hal, his past is doomed to haunt him.



TW has really opened a new arc in his universe. Still, we are missing a new kind of sort of supernatural...

Tom and Hal are a great pair, remind me of my elder cubs: Squabling one minute then defending each other the next.

I did wonder if we'd see any more of this journal! Great stuff.

Got to admit in all honesty, I thought it was a bit too slow at first, but by the end it had completely won me over, great humour and really strengthened the relationships between the characters. Michaela was a bit *too* much on occasion for me, fitting with the tone of the episode, but not much depth to her. Didn't dislike her but didn't love her either basically!

Really loving Lord Harry though!

12 - Saint - oh yesss - loved the 'echoes from the past' in Ep 3... they were funny, interesting, sad, funny, bleak, hilarious and heart-breaking (The Real Hustle *sob*).



13 - Cornish Doggie - yep was going to say that next - no-one has mentioned the fact that Tom keeps on and on about making bombs... but I think that either Tom or Hal will get a burnt arm - BUT I also agree that 'burnt arm' refers to something different. We'll never see it, though. Did any of us get that Regus and Michaela would walk off into the sunset together from the cartoon drawing? Nope.

I thought Lenora Crichlow was excellent in this Ep. And all her scenes were so well-written - really great work from the writer Jamie Mathieson - and I hope he writes more Eps. But Mark Williams as Regus was wonderful! And so funny!



Best bits for me were:



Regus: " You love a doorstep row, dun't yer? Do you really want to go into this right now?"



Annie: "Before I go into the weird vampire's house - yes!"

But you are right about something - we've had a bomb blowing up vampires and now we suspect that we might have another - but are they connected in some way... And anyway - who taught Tom to make bombs? Where did that come from? But there has been a reference in every Ep so far and Tom's prequel about - dum dum durrrrhhhhhhhhhh The Bomb.

So glad that Regus got his Michaela! He really is a nerd, just instead of being a geeky teenager he's a 400 year old vampire. Think they will be a perfect match.



Didn't expect Hal to be Fergus maker, but I have been thinking, and still thinks, that he might be Cutler's maker. If he is that could explain a bit of the rivality we saw between Fergus and Cutler, both trying to be the "best" heir.



I do agree with those thinking that Hal's maker was Mr Snow, that would explain why he isn't scared of Hal as the rest.



Also noticed that the next episode is called "A Spectre Calls". And yes, spectre could just be another word for ghost, but after searching it on wikipedia I'm thinking it might be a clue about Kirby. As people have mentioned there are a lot of references to different superheroes/comics in BH and I think this might be another one : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spectre_%28comics%29 Of course I don't think it's gonna be the Spectre from DC Comics showing up, but there could be some clues as to who Kirby is and what he wants.



Saw in the comments on one of the blogs that someone else as well have finally noticed that future woman's door is the door to HH.



Really liked the touch with the Real Hustle at the end of the episode.

Oh, and I noticed that one of the later episodes is called Puppy Love, I really hope that means that sweet Tom finally meets the right girl!

This is a Teenage Diary that over the years has evolved - If it wasn't for Regis I can't help feeling that Gilbert would ave a friend.

Puppy love - also known as first love or infatuation.



I don't think Tom is going to meet his Nina but he will believe that he has. After all you heard his bedtime story, also how he acted around Nina it will be an event that shapes him and if she is his Nina, it will be a while before she calls him her Tom.



I hope very strongly that the Vampires don't interfere.

@23_ Sorry Manc I said a while back that the cafe is in NEWPORT & most of the filming in ep. 3 is in Newport.

I know because I used it almost everyday when I worked on the dock & since its re-opened I usually pop in on a sunday morning for breakfast !!!!

The Fergus & Annie scene was in Tredegar Park & when they were running from Fergus & his cronies they ran right past the pub that my mam grew up in....!!!!

Despite Mikey's apparent dislike of my home town.(LOLOLOLOLOL) I think he's onto something with the Ivan thing , It crossed my mind as well.....!!!!

29- HAH!!! I don't dislike Newport, i've stayed there many times for gigs. My annoyance is that it's not local to Barry, it's 20-30 miles away. So they ran from the cafe to HH. Pretty impressive! I'm just amazed that this was overlooked. Quite why they couldn't work in Barry I dunno :-/

If the next episode is titled "A Spectre Calls", then are we about to meet our first Ghoul? Inspector Goole (note the wordplay) is the central character in Priestley's "An Inspector Calls" and it turns out he's a kind of avenging angel figure. The character can also prophesy future events - in Priestley's case it was WWI ("Fire and blood and anguish") but with the future events we've already seen in episode 1.........

I posted a pic on one of the blogs showing me sat in the cafe the morning before Ep1 was aired !!!!

@30 - The BBC has done a fair bit of filming in and around Newport as I can remember Dr.Who being filmed down on the Dock & I think Torchwood has done a bit here too. I would think that Newport had scene suitability & availability that Barry didnt. The cafe for example was closed for a while before they started filming & places featured like the dock & Tredegar park are easily closed off for filming.....

Where are you from Mikey & where have you played in Newport as I might well have watched you !!!!

29/30 Thanks guys - Newport it is then. The only reason I can think of for not shooting in Barry will be because of money, perhaps Mikey, although when BH moved to HH in Barry, they did say it was quite difficult at first because they kept bumping into other crews from other shows there.



I loved the fact that Annie mentioned that she didn't believe in prophesies, referring to that 'self-fulfilling prophesy'.

The thing is, in Tom's prequel it says he's interviewed for a job in a small cafe in Barry. So even although the *real* cafe is in Newport it isn't actually meant to be there for script purposes, I don't think. Just saying..............

going back to the nemesis thing, i mentioned in the last blog that it could be Tom having burned his arm on the chip fat in the cafe! what if it is this cutler fella?

i think we will see this new supernatural in ep5 when Adam is in it. i red a review (or spoiler) that Adams teacher can see Annie so mabe she is the supernatural. could she be an angel? cos teachers are wonderful aren't they! you have to have the patience of a saint! or just throwing this in the air, what if its Annie with her new developed powers. could she be a higher being-a super duper ghostie?

37 - But you can't picture that it's in Barry because of the huge Newport bridge outside the window. I know i know.... I can believe in the supernatural for the sake of a programme but not the location of a cafe(!). Fair enough it's filmed in Newport but AT LEAST pretend it's in Barry!!!!

Was thinking about the scrolls. The sign which appeares to show a female pregnant with twins. What if it isn't twins as such but two children born at the same time but to different mothers? One good, one bad. Maybe Future Lady isn't Eve at all but the other *twin*. If so, is she the good or the bad?

Have you noticed Regus gave the same longing look to the beach poster on the wall, as did Mitchell in the Lia episode. The poster is significant. Paradise Lost. No, I have not read Milton, but possibly there is something in it about the storyline...



As for shapeshifting... Lia's surname, in case this was overlooked was Shaman. Shamans do shapeshifting. Her brother could 'feel' the future. Is it Lia's return? She would know about Nina etc. She knew how to tune her telly quite expertly. Her interventions caused many policemen deaths if you care to remember the sequences. Drive Mitchell mad and let the dices roll...

The Nemesis of the saviour is going to task said saviour for her actions. It does not imply he or she is an ennemy.

If Hal took care of Plague dead bodies, he would have been near pits and those bodies were covered by some crude chemical disinfectant like caustic soda like salpetre which can burn skin...

Have to say, this series is really shaping up well and look forward to finding out more about Hal and, of course, Cutler's plans!

Ok so we've got fire, past tense, man and arm. So maybe a fire that happened in the past and has left the man (also past tense as he's now a ghost) with burns on his arms. Should we be checking Kirby's arms for burns do you think?

With Fergus out of the way Cutler is going to be the man with the plan and his plan , as we know , Is to reveal the existence of WW's to the world.......I noticed a future episode is titled "Hold the front page" which I think could be a reference to Cutlers little WW movie. In the past any "revelations" about supernaturals would have been stifled by the old ones but if Cutler's shrewd enough he might be able to show them the relevance of revealing "Something worse" as a cover for the vampires final push to take the world.....

Tom's little bomb project has been subtley included in episodes & prequels so it must have some real relevance & we know that explosions cause fire so I think our burned nemisis will be tied into to Tom's bomb(s) !!!!

Oh what if Kirby is Nina's father (don't know if Kirby is his christian or surname). We know that Nina's surname is Pickering but that could be taken from her mother. Maybe Kirby knows about Nina's death because he is related to her. Maybe he was the one who inflicted the terrible burns on her stomach when she was just a baby - in the process burning his own arms. He dies soon afterwards - maybe at the hands of Nina's mother - and is now back to get revenge on Nina's child? Far fetched? Yup! Likely to be correct? No!!

On the theme of Tom and bomb-making: wasn't there a comment on twitter from some of the crew over the summer that they had just finished the 'most explosive day of filming' ever? Sounds like we will be in for a treat at some point...

Or then again, what if Nina has sent Kirby back? Why - surely not just to help Annie with the baby? There must be something more. I've given myself a headache.................!

I don't think Kirby is there just out of curiousity. I think he will be bad news.

Annie spent time with Nina for around 4 months most of that time for Nina was spent with George while Annie focused a lot on Mitchell. Then there is the fact Nina was not open about her past so the amount Annie could know about Nina would be limited.



Nina is the one she knew least about therefore the one to say the message is from.

57 - yeah they died. but they can be brought back in the same way that cara did for herrick

Afternoon! lots going on here.

On the subject of Nina's burns. They were inflicted by a violent ex-boyfriend. It says so on her character info.

We know Tom is interested in making bombs but perhaps the swimming pool ref refers to the pool where the dogfights were held in S3.

Though I think any explosions will be around Newport Transporter Bridge or perhaps somewhere like the Old Corn Exchange in Cardiff.

Hi Sea. You are, of course, correct about Nina's burns. I'm getting all carried away about this last set of clues that Regus gave Annie. In the pawn shop, Tom mentioned to Hal about building a swimming pool in the back garden - he mentioned rubber tubing.

the BT20 victims had numerous bites and I remember a disturbing sight of a disemboweled victim. As such, it does not require a stretch of imagination to the coroner to sort of add up:

victim- human bites and saliva

supposed killer: same saliva- thanks to tweaked results by Cutler and human flesh inside- it was a werewolf after a change

and Mitchell killed during a change right?

73- It's fascinating that the box tunnel 20 hasn't gone away. Really intrigued that they felt it had more to offer with the plotline.



I also like they were they seemed to be answering most of our questions, what are they doing for money? is Eve registered? etc

Cutler's Plan.



Now from the trail for next weeks episode I thought that perhaps 'Jason Healy' could have been a werewolf. That had been caged then released by the Vampires only to be gunned down. Now here is another point, Mitchell and Daisy had their little Rampage on a Full Moon. Now as we clever bloggers know if indeed the Box Tunnel had been the work of a Werewolf then things would have been different.



1.Cloths found near the scene.

2.When the Maintenance man arrived – if still at night a trapped werewolf would of torn his head off.

3.Werewolves show up on camera – Strange shadowy form was not seen.

4.The bodies were mutilated but not eaten.



These are things that PR boy Cutler is going to change as I see it.



1.Random report added to or evidence of cloths found. To explain how they found Mr Healy.

2.Time of Maintenance man's arrival with possible removal of witness.

3.A bit of Jiggery Pokery on the video.

4.Reports change when the police change.



This is what He's going to do. Shift the species blame. A few more well placed stories/set ups and we have torches and pitch forks pointing in the wrong direction as the back of the mob is picked off one by one.

Wish to thank Toby and writers/director/actors for giving one of my most loved shows a great new series. I too thought it would end after Mitchell, foolishly i forgot how great the writing on this progamme is. So glad i stuck with it, and enjoy reading all the great recommendations in TV mags like Radio Times. Think this is the only BBC 3 programme they recommend each week. Annie, Tom and Hal are great characters, and the writing is so clever, funny and smart. Also love the website:) So well done and thank you

as for the man with the burnt arm or rather 'the arm which has seen fire' which could be anything from a firearm, fireman- ah???- or the arm which has set fire... to what???

it means that the nemesis or the archenemy will have this condition, but it does not say when it happens

so we can imagine it has not happen yet but when the saviour and his/her nemesis meet, there will be the trace of an old fire

I think that The Old One (guest starring the excellent Mark Gatiss) is Hals Maker, and will need to feed from him to regain his youthful looks and teeth! Dread to think what cliffhanger will end this too short series, keep Annie, Hal and Tom for next series, and of course Eve:)

Okaaay - boy this discussion is good - about the 'man with the burnt arm' -



It can't be a ghost and it can't be a vamp, can it? Because when you see a ghost you don't see the terrible injuries that killed them. You can't see how Annie's skull was cracked open or that young policeman in S3 Ep8 - the one covered in blood, killed by Herrick, the one that Annie goes through his door with to see Lia. Nada.

And with vamps it's the same - you can't see Michaela's slashed neck once she is a vampire - so neither of these will show a burnt arm.



So the 'man with a burnt arm' could only be a human or a werewolf orrrrrrrrrr a type 4 (zombie).

Ewan, let me see if I've got this right - Cutler's idea is to tell humans about Werewolves so that they will be so scared that they will actually ASK vamps to help rid the world of them. In order to do this, Cutler has taken the BT20 story and twisted it to suggest that Healy was actually a werewolf. Is that what you are saying? (you know I don't read spoilers - takes all the fun away from playing on the blog, soooo...).

Then again - if we see a Troll with a burnt arm - rrrruuuuuunnnnnn!

It's guess work - Plus who said anything about announcing Vampires all I said was exposing Werewolves. Then Using the fact the Humans are distracted to make it too late to fight back.

97. well if werewolves are exposed it makes sense that vampires would too. people are going to wonder what else could be out there and start to dig deep.
