The thing is, we can all keep second guessing and it is probably really good therapy for all us bloggers otherwise we could end up like herrick, poor thing?

YAY!! Less then 24 hours!!!!

OMG I cant wait! But im sad that we are over half way through the series already! I don't know what i'll do when its over :(



Anyway, there is something that's been bothering me for a while now and that is 'do vampires breathe?' We know they don't have heartbeats because of the machines not working on Mitchell in the hospital in episode 6 of season 1 and in episode 5 of season 2 they said that there was no smoke/air in the lungs of the bodies of the vampires caught in the explosion at the funeral parlor, "They were already dead" suggesting that vampires are just animated corpses that don't decay. But this is the thing that confuses me: if vampires don't breathe, then how can Mitchell smoke?

Is that blood on Herricks chin/mouth? has he been feeding on his fellow patients?.

Notice his hands look all twisted like a poor olde arthritic pensioner, is this the result of georges mauling or his mental state?

in about 90 mins series 3 will premiere here in the states, after an all day marathon of ALL the episodes. Can't wait to see it in HD I enjoyed it on the net but Mitchell should always be in HD unless he's in person..lol

7. - EP - Vampires not breathing have always been a bugbear in the movie/genre world, not least because actors can't not breathe! lol. But most get by it by saying that breathing is voluntary not compulsory, as is the heartbeat. If a vampire didn't breathe they wouldn't be able to talk, let alone smoke, so if they can do it voluntarily or out of habit, then they can get round this problem. A heartbeat/blood pressure would also be necessary for other, uh, activities that male vampires....ok, not going there...



The thing that bothered me about the explosion at the funeral parlour is why there were 30 bodies. We know vampires turn to dust when they're young and don't when they're older (as with Herrick who's body was buried, and Ivan who also had a body), but does this mean there were more than 30 vampires in the funeral parlour at the time of the explosion? Probably. Otherwise I'm just going to have to suspend belief again, lol.



Anyway, roll on tonight. Close the curtains, take the phone off the hook, get the party rings ready and.....enjoy. xx

Afternoon bloggers....according to Narin Bahar who (amongst other talented things) writes BH reviews for SFX magazine, and lucky woman gets to view the episodes before us, this epsiode is the best one yet....and we may need to hide behind cushions!



I'm thinking that Bazzer (episode cast list) must be this old friend of Mitchell's and therefore a vampire..he sounds a loose cannon so maybe fireworks about to happen! Interesting reference to Big Bad John in Mr P's comment...does this mean that Mitchell...once again!...is going to resort to violence?...and will Herrick be on the receiving end? ...oh and what is Cara going to be up to in this episode?

I wonder if it's more due to the method of dispatch. I.e. stake through the heart leads to dust. Being blown up or killed by a werewolf doesn't. It seems odd to me that the young ones would turn to dust while the old ones don't as it's usually the other way around in vampire lore... Course 'Being Human' has it's own rules.

Find it hard to believe they can top last week's amazing ep- but those who've seen it seen to be saying they can and do.



And can't believe people have invited themselves over this evening (obviously not vampires - or BH fans - how strange is that?) - so will have an even longer day and a bit before I can watch...

Actually thinking about it "it's usually the other way around in vampire lore." isn't really true. I'm thinking mainly of the Dracula novel. I.e. Lucy Westenra just looks like a peaceful human corpse after her staking. Dracula and his 3 brides on the other hand turn to dust as they're ancient. In the more traditional folklore, I think dispatched vampires just look like corpses.

So, ewan- I've been reading these blogs since BH2, and yours always seem to make the most sense after and even before events are revealed on the telly- are you a BH spy or just bright...?

Evening everyone! This definitely is 'The Longest Day'! Can't believe it's actually episode 5 already. I've always thought Ep 5 was the defining and turning point in both previous series - things always start to kick off! Welcome back Herrick and.... Big Bad John. It's just occurred to me that, aside from the Box Tunnel incident we've never actually seen Mitchell being really bad! All previous flashbacks and in his prequel his conscience has already kicked in. We have never seen the Mitchell of (darkest heart of us all) legend! Getting very nervous. We've got the Iced Rings ready and the cushions, just in case, I think we're going to need them!

It would be so cool to be a being human spy wouldn't it?

You know the moment when the waiting is at it's worst - it's when you've finished you re-watch of both being human and becoming human and realise now that there is nothing to occupy your time but time.



Time ticking away at you seeming to slow down as your waiting for the minute hand to complete two more complete. circuits and then half way round again.

64.Hi warwickshire_rose I am new here, only been blogging for a week! I started re-watching BH1 a few days ago and was amazed that it was as good or even better than 1st time round even though you know what's going to happen- how do they do that?!

How young is too young these days? BH is 15-rated. Is 14 too young then? Glad the kids are definitely too young for it to be an issue for me to contemplate! We're all a lot safer with Merlin... which has added bonus material for me!

Also feeling a little dispondent (spelling?!) and left behind! 1st season is/was awesome; best so far probably for me, and I love watching it back as you do notice little things you missed previously! LOVE IT!

70 - Merlin definitely in a different class to BH (firmly in family entertainment). I am currently enjoying (shock horror) Merlin dvds more than BH! I feel like a traitor, but it's the shared enjoyment of Merlin that makes it special for us oldies - it's wonderful to be able to watch tv as a family together and share the excitement of children, whilst perving in an adult way at the handsome young men!

71- It amazes me that the whole BH story stands up to so much unrelenting scrutiny from bloggers. Even watched many times and studied in detail (up to A level standard?!or degree level- PhD anyone-ewan?) the story threads still make sense. I feel like we are being fed little hints and clues all the time, but not just about the story within one series but over the whole thing. Does any of that make sense?

75 - glad you feel welcome - we are a friendly bunch indeed! It's why I'm here! I think you make sense in my head! I would say that Ewan is phd level in his awareness of episode trivia. I am much lower down the spectrum but I am just fascinated by little story arcs that thread in and out throughout the series. I love the delicacy with which the foundations of something huge can be introduced without you realising that it will be important. I don't like to blog after episodes as I don't want to tear them to pieces and end up down dead-end alleys, but like the slow reveal that the writers seem to have planned.

Sunday is the longest day for me...and i can't watch the ep live...given my husband records Top Gear to watch after we get our kids off to bed and i have to wait til after that to watch my show. I'm biting my nails, counting down the minutes.



I don't think Herrick is a confused old man, i think he's still the evil manipulative vamp of S1. Mitchell is slowly unravelling and all in all it promises to be an amazing episode, i think his seeing Herrick again will make his paranoia grow and quite possibly tip him over the edge.

why didnt mitchell stake herrick when he had the opportunity to? he had no problem doing it to graham in ep2!

76 - well we know Cara is in the episode from the Bristol days, she was saved by Daisy from the caves, and Daisy will have told her about her little daytrip on the trains with Mitchell. All the vamps (in Bristol) are pretty aware about what Mitchell did. Herrick won't need to say a thing or discover any books if Cara is there. She was never any good at keeping quiet.

84 - ah but Herrick was talking about staking Mitchell at that point. Mitchell in series one always assumed that Herrick would kill him not vice versa; don't know if it's a bit bad vampire etiquette to kill your sire, but I would have killed Herrick given the chance - maybe he didn't as he could foresee the power vaccuum... but then why would he leave George to do it then? Mitchell didn't want/feel able to kill Herrick back then in any case. Maybe it's easier for Mitchell to let go of his future than it is to let go of his past?!

85 - I have a slab of dairy milk beside the settee in the lounge waiting for BH. It has to be done.

78- I don't spend much time reading lengthy guesses on what will happen next on the blog post-ep, but i do like reading people's reactions-esp those who know BH really well. It's nice to hear someone loved the same line as you did. Also people often notice different things to me and put different meanings on things which is interesting. I do agree that the writers are the best people to tell the story and have learned to trust them over time. But I often wonder how they dare to write- what if they get it wrong? The bloggers will go mental as BH clearly means a great deal to them/us.....

89 - I do like it when there is shared joy over certain lines - had a bit of a moment like that in the Adam episode where a question I'd been asking with fellow bloggers only an hour or two before was answered! The writers are working with fore-knowledge with Toby Whithouse. They know where they are going far better than the bloggers and the bloggers are good at trusting them to get it right. It's not like they get bored one day and just say "let's do this!" which doesn't even fit in with anything. The bloggers just really appreciate the writers and it seems to work well. There isn't the geekish questioning of everything and pulling stories to pieces like can happen on the Doctor Who websites I guess, where the writers run the risk of not knowing the back stories as well as the fans! BH is too young!

Can u imagine Bh being on our tv sceens for over 40 years like Doctor who.



There would have to be diffenrt actors obzly but it would still be good if it could last that long.
