Let me just try and gather my thoughts.

Brilliant episode yet again! Next week shall be interesting!

And that answers the question of how old Herrick is - 1843. Looks like that 1920s flashback is next week then.

ive just posted on the other blog- he was never as doolally as he made out. so many clues and oh so subtle nuances all the way through this episode....

OOoohhhh I don't know what to do??? what just happened???? Brain melting need to process whoa!!!!!

And can I just say an AMAZING thank you for the brilliant soundtrack and original music throughout this episode. So cool.

I think herrick knows exactly what he's doing, turning them against eachother from the inside. That's a true evil genius :D gotta love that!! Only three episodes to go now ! Such a different feel to this episode but it was brilliant!!!

All of the reviews and speculation were true - that was the best episode of Being Human - ever! Can't believe I have to wait a whole week for the next ep - how mean is that!

Sinead, we don' hate you or Nina, she is just trying to protect her family.

'Almost a Tena lady episode'to misquote the community psychiatric nurse ( brilliantly acted might I say). Think Nina is working up to be a false lead on the wolf shaped bullet and I suspect Annie is far far more powerful then anyone has yet imagined and Herrick senses that and almost at a feral vampiric level went for the 'you're just peripheral'tack to try and undermine her relationship with the others.

Totally, absolutely, stunningly brilliant. Best ever episode yet, out of all three seasons of Being Human. You can just sense that it's all about to hit the fan, but it's still tantalising because the threat from within is still in the air...it could be anyone.



Found myself wanting it to be a 2-hour episode!!

What an amazing episode...so intense..I couldn't take my eyes off it!

Loved the fact that it was mainly in the B&B....for me, this was Nina's episode where she exerted her strength as well as her compassion.



Didn't see Cara killing herself coming...at one point I thought that Wendy would be killed in the house



Herrick clearly doesn't remember and is 'in his mind' a Victorian gent..but..is he enamoured by Nina....or is he in manipulation mode?



...and Mitchell...how will it change his behaviour because he thinks that Nina is the 'bullet'.....I'm now thinking that she isn't.

why oh why did she call the police? it puts all of them under investigation surely? i mean the reason they took herrick from hospital was so no one would find out about him!

loved the 'Tena lady' moment. a proper snort with laughter moment in amongst all that tension! I believe Herrick doesn't have a clue whats going on but also that essentially he's an evil man - Nina's comment to Mitchell about his poison being nothing to do with being a vampire i think applies to Herrick. His base instincts are to manipulate and stir things up.

15. Dorina ---- have to agree to differ on this one- HE KNOWS EXACTLY WHO HE IS- all the clues are in the episode......

Okay, I just have to say it. I loved this episode. I loved every inch, every second, just...it's so...*flails*



I just love this show and these actors and this crew. They are made of win and awesome and I cannot wait for the next three episodes, no matter how angst-ridden they are.



Oh and Herrick! You may be a clever 'little boy' but Annie is too clever for you! Annie is just...she is so made of win. I also love how her worst part (prepared to kill for those she loves) is still better than all of their better parts put together. I just love her ferocity and protectiveness. And honestly anyone who doubts Annie's strength after this episode is just not watching the same show as we are. I want to be her when I grow up!...or...ya know...the other one *cough*

I honestly can't stop grinning. I loved this so much. Just perfect example of amazing acting because, when you think about it, very little actually happened in the episode. Like that online reviewer said, it was 90% in the house and it all was just



...I have no words. I love the foursome more than ever if possible, even if I'm annoyed with most of them. What they're doing just makes too much sense not to go with, even if it's angsty and not what I'd want if this were a comic or fluffy show.

Until tonight I was totally and utterly convinced Nina was the wolf shaped bullet....and part of me thinks that she still could be but now I think for the first time, it could be George...I'd previously dismissed him because well, he wouldnt ever be able to kill his friend, but now think he just might be able to....



Also, whilst totally an annie and mitchell shipper, I think what he said to her by the bins is alot more true than what he said to her in the bedroom...I think that if everything was hunkdory and safe, he'd not go near her with a ten foot stake....

Tonight though was all about the george....he was the one that made me laugh, and his sheer terror for most of the ep....sublime!



Soooo glad Herrick's back and what genius that he got put up in the attic! It made me think of Jane Eyre and the mad woman locked upstairs....Despite the video, I think he *does* know more than he's letting on.....anyone else notice that he was playing with a train set? I dont think that its just a coincidence....also the bowl of fruit that rotted in seconds.....and he's still got that Herrick way of manipulation.....



all I can say is roll on next week! *squeals with the excitment of barely being able to wait!!*

I don't think I love John Mitchell any more. I wonder if part of the reason he wants Herrick gone is because he knows he is becoming as vicious and manipulative as Herrick was/is. George and Nina were amazing.

Cara was just a device to show the audience how manipulative and callous he is. he tried to use the same tack on annie. also- clue to annie's powers which we havent really seen since the funeral parlour- the shorting socket etc. shape of things to come, methinks.

AMAZING!!!! Camera angles, acting, script it was The Most brilliant episode this series, until next week hopefully :) I couldn't breathe, it felt so claustrophobic and that was a nice touch just staying in the house.

oh yes, I forgot to add how much Annie totally rocks....if the bullet hadnt been called wolf shaped, I could totally see her being it....I keep thinking that we've not seen much of her powers this series....could that be because we're building up to her strongest moment yet?

@26 - yes, we see silly Annie, or needy Annie so much it's easy to forget what an elemental force she can be when roused.

i keep thinking there is no wolf shaped bullet, that its some kind of trick or wind up from the people from the other side to turn the housemates against each other

24. MRT, I thought that.. But Herrick is dangerous regardless of whether he knows what he is. & what was the whole thing with the bowl of fruit? What is Herrick exactly?! We still don't really know

Could the wolf-shaped bullet not be literal death-by-werewolf, but the result of a werewolf's actions... i.e. Nina's phone call and the repercussions of that? Plus the wrath of the other Vampire's Mitchell has managed to annoy!

@30 - yes, totally. Remember the one who gave the prophecy was called Lia (sounds like liar?) I think they are just messing with his mind and trying to turn him against his friends.

OMG! Definitely the best episode ever - the whole family is stunned! That was amazing television!

Convinced Nina is a red herring and totally agree that Annie is just warming up - I think she'll be the hero!

The threat from within - Herrick has created all the conflict between them in one, very long day...

Whoever is bitten by a werewolf and lives becomes a werewolf himself. I know Herrick is vampire, the dude has no reflection, but now George's star of David isn't having any effect, and he's still got a nasty streak...what else can he be? Could he be the wolf shaped bullet?

is anyone else worried that due to the fact that AT is off filming the hobbit in New Zealand for god knows how long..means that he wont be around to film series 4 and its looking very much like he wont survive end of series 3?



maybe writers are playing with us..kill mitchell off and make us wait till next series to find out if he is coming back!

I may have to disagree slightly with the above - I'm not sure that was the BEST episode yet, but it was certainly very good! It felt like it lasted for ages, but I don't mean it in a negative way.



But those last 10 minutes? I think I forgot to breathe... it was when Herrick squeaked the floorboard... and then Nina came in... and then she saw the book... and Herrick was being all manipulative and creepy... and the phonecall.... GAH! o.O



I think a re-watch is in order!

I think that he didnt react to the star of david because his resurrection has made him stronger than ever- he can withstand it all.

In the end all you have to ponder over is- what does herrick want? why is he manipulating everyone. Answer- he is frightened of mitchell and wants to destroy not just him, but everyone around him. How effectively he has already begun the process......

Wendy was wonderfully dotty and even though I'm not a shipper I did aawwww a lot for Annie when he told her he didn't love her. But then he was back to needing her forever within the episode - manipulative much?



Aidan is very gorgeous when he's losing the plot though. ;-)

I think Herrick was starting to realise who he was/is....maybe? Oh, I don't know! The evil's in there somewhere though....the bloodlust must be just around the corner.....

Herrick is definitely evil, although he does do a nice line in wide-eyed cuteness. I was actually starting to hope he was changed for real 'cos he's so sweet :-) ... but I don't really believe it.

The face off between Mitchell and Nina was brilliant, loved the way the tension has been built up between these two over the series.

Annie, Annie , Annie - its all up to you girl. She has the power - we know this. The "peripheral" line from Herrick made me squee - some of us have been saying it forever. She has a MUCH bigger part to play in all of this. We have not even begun to see what she is capable of. I reckon she's saving the day...

I dont hate you Sinead you just did what you had to do as an Actress as you said you dont right it but that episode was just amazing it blew last weeks right out the window i cant wait for next weeks ..good jobs guys..xx

48. I was glad to see the back of Cara, she always gave me the heebie jeebies! How did Herrick respond to her staking herself? Some idiot text me at that point & I missed it!

First I did not predict no flashback I really didn't see that one coming I mean I knew it would be something I wouldn't get but still.



From baby photos to Jenga and Nina's reaction to Jenga - then rescuing Herrick - who seemed to be targeted by one patient could they tell supernaturals?



Then into the house and Mitchell going a little crazy.



The fruit - Did anyone else notice what happened to the fruit?



He may not be taking blood but the fruit went pretty rotten pretty fast. Is that how his influence starts.



Herrick clearly has quite a lot of his powers still in place.



He was able to tell when Mitchell was coming to kill him and send George on an intercept course.



However the knowing who he was well that will come whether he decides to become that again?



The scene where Nina squares up to Mitchell intense is the word for it you can see her mistrust of Mitchell, his belief that she will be the one to kill him. Wow



When Annie makes the electrics go haywire is that another foreshadowing of a how strong she is becoming?



Epic.



Next week - I think will be a reverse Josie episode in flashback Mitchell descending into bloody decadence during flasbacks.



Herrick is becoming a bit of a peeping Tom



The new ghost who it is thought to be Georges dad will be a thing to see

i'm intrigued by the 'next time' bit at the end in the flashback - herrick tells Mitchell if you create an heir they can bring you back. I assume that means make a Vampire for that purpose like Herrick did to Cara. So the question is - will Mitchell make himself an heir and if so - who? Or has he already - Bernie??

I love that Herrick put his book "the victor" right next to mitchell's stake and he even looked smug...

Yes Ewan, the fruit! So WHAT is Herrick?!?!

I think that's the best episode of being human i've ever seen (even compared to some of the series 1 blinders and the second to last of season 2) and i'm pretty sure Adrian Lester just gave the performance of his career. Counterpointed by the achingly good Lenora in their little scene together. Tovey just nailed down his character, if George himself existed he couldn't be more George than Tovey was in that episode.



Aidan Turner took the long road in this episode, adding subtle nuances to his character and building up to what i expect to be a heart-stopping performance. This was all built upon beautifully dark, layered and quite simply excellent writing.



Apart from the first episode this series has felt a bit choppy to me and too episodic to let the series themes develop properly but now i feel we're on track for a spectacular finale.



I have so much to do tonight and tomorrow but the first chance I get I'm watching this for a second time and then probably a third.

Yes, but George and new-Herrick are "friends" so maybe that's why it doesn't affect him?



Watched the clip and LOL at Aidan and his "I could take her out" and Sinead's prediction of hate mail from bloggers. Message to Sinead : we can separate fact from fiction. Well, mostly. ;)

Brilliant episode. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO ALL WEEK?

If I remember my vampire law..which changes depending on what you're watching or reading, its not actually the relgious symbols which hurt vampires its the faith behind the symbol that pushes them away.George has faith in his and Mitchell's friendship which is why his star of David doesn't hurt him. So whether Herrick is aware he's a vampire or not, George's faith in the goodness of his star of david would have had effect, also if him remembering he was a vampire would have had an effect the way he reacted to the star of David, then wouldn't he not have seen Annie because the only reason he can is because he's a vampire. Whew that was much more long winded than I intended.

Wow. OK. Breathe!

Still trying to get my head round it .... need a rewatch. After everything the stupid thing I'm fixed on is that bowl of fruit. Accourding to book's I've read and I'm sure most of you, there are different types of Vampire, blood feeders and energy feeders buy stirring up everyone in the house Herrick is feeding off the enegry or prana and I don't think energy stealers are affected by the usual vampiric restrictions hence the lack of reaction to the star of david?

@66 - nice idea. Mitchell does say they need to make sure he doesn't feed a clue perhaps to the fact that he already is. Maybe getting a big chunk from when Cara stakes herself - maybe thats why he goaded her into it.

Cara- Herrick had no further use for her after she had served her purpose ( his heir)

The fruit- a metaphor for the evil that he has brought creeping into the house.POISON to him

The star of david- herrick no longer affected because he has already been killed by its wearer and has overcome that and become stronger and DIFFERENT in the process

Annie- a force very much underused at the moment. her part and her powers at the end will be the crucial one

Nina- going into nesting mode, blinded by everything else happening under her nose. being manipulated massively by herrick

George- full of angst, as usual- dont make him have to choose between mitchell and nina/baby

Mitchell- off his head, but still clearly prophesying everyones downfall by herrick

The power socket- things will definitely go BANG!

My thoughts on the fruit is this Herrick is wrong, he doesn't fit any more something outside the general rules. I don't think he's a vampire yet. Yet, the fact Cara had been trying to get him to feed on her to remember the resurrection is incomplete until he feeds, his essence will draw sustenance, from the world around him. What this might mean for Nina's unborn child if she spends too much time around Herrick I fear to speculate on.

MRT, aw you can't help but love Mitchell, he's just a naughty boy with a bit of an addiction....

@73 -My feeling is that the werewolf curse only works on the living. Vampires, already being dead, don't become part werewolf. With the number of run-ins we've seen between the two types there'd be a fair number of were-vampires around otherwise.

Could Mitchell be making George his 'heir'? They did always say about how he was grooming him for something - maybe this has been happening unknowing all along? Fate brought them together???

AT is particularly yummy when being big bad john! but enough AT drooling - if Herrick needs to feed for his resurrection to be complete then if he knew what he was doing he would have fed therefore must not really know who he is. but, like I said, his nature is evil and manipulative. its like his default setting - he's been reset. a bit childlike - playing with the house mates just to see what happens no real agenda just evil.

72. Well put. We watch him rip 20 people apart and think 'oh, poor Mitchell'. That's real character investment! They are taking huge risks with his character every week, but the quality of the writing and depth and layers in the performance keep us on board. Brilliant. A bit more than just the eyebrows acting I reckon!



And Nina too is getting much more complicated. We won't hate you Sinead, but we will yell 'Nina, no!' at the screen, so a great job done.

i reckon once dead the moon can have no power over you - which is surely what happens to werewolves? Vampires are frozen in time, if a werewolf is turned Vampire then he becomes a vampire and if a werewolf were just to scratch a vampire then it would heal like any other wound does on a vampire.

I think that theres a much closer connection between george and mitchell than has really been explored. Also, Annie will be much more in control of her powers, where herrick is concerned. I was a little sceptical of certain bloggers who shall remain nameless when they were decrying annie's character being' lightweight' and indeed peripheral. strange isnt it, what goes around comes around?

1) Herrick called Mitchell 'the dark one'- I'm guessing he wasn't referring to hair/eye colour!?



2) What was Mitchell doing with the Box Tunnel 20 scrap book? He has looked at it often, but never before has he needed glue and sissors!! What's that about??

89. I agree. Annie is strong, but she would never use her powers for herself. Only to protect and save others. I really think she will save them all in the end.

@91 - he was already obsessing, watching endless news reports about it so I'm afraid that he's continuing in that vein and has probably been adding to the scrapbook. Not healthy and certainly wouldn't help with any claim that it was Graham's book, assuming Mitchell ever gets to defend himself ... not that "well yes I did kill them but I didn't scrapbook about it" is much of a defence come to think of it.

That was one of the most intense hours i have ever had in front of a TV. I think i shook for a full fifteen minutes after it ended.



Incredible episode, amazing performances by everyone.



33- I agree with what you stated, that Nina's actions is in essence the WSB, that it will be Mitchell's 'downfall', not necessarily his actual death. I don't think Mitchell will die per se. Not with Annie fighting his corner.



I was torn all the way regarding Herrick, one moment i believed he was an amnesiac, then i believed that he was perfectly aware of who he was and what he was doing. I now fall in the latter camp, i think he is fully aware of his past and who he is and is a master manipulator.

What a fantastic catalyst is Herrick? George turning on Nina and Mitchell, Nina on George and Mitchell, Mitchell on Nina and Annie.



But Herrick can't get to Annie. Is she his nemesis?

I would like them to back up the toughness/bravery Annie showed when she offered to stake Herrick - that was dark, strong, morally-complex... Annie being a grown-up, realistic person confronting a problem herself. It may have been a flawed choice, but it was decisive action, which is nice to see from her.





But I thought this episode felt long... padded. I know they were trying to show the cracks developing in the group and Herrick's manipulation having effect.. but I just felt it was the same type of scene over and over... The Wendy character had too much screentime, and she wasn't funny enough to justify that (not the actress's fault, just a silly character that didnt fit the tone of the ep). And it was no 'Who's Afraid of Virgina Woolf' in terms of tense, claustrophobic scenes with powerful dialogue, which I'm guessing is what they were aiming for. The dialogue was all really obvious, unsubtle.. gah. I think there should've been an 'outside the house' storyline this ep to contrast with all this - so that Herrick was undermining the relationships 'in the background', instead of being so obviously two-faced. And Im sorry he insinuated himself with Nina and George way too quickly. Nina's thought process leading to calling the hotline was bizarre... why wouldnt she just show the album to everyone, give Mitchell a chance to explain??



And Mitchell's paranoia is not convincing me at the moment.. moving too fast to be believable. The way he immediately jumped to the conclusion that Nina was the wolfshapedbullet and the way he STRONGLY hinted at what he thought even though he supposedly doesn't want them to know about 'the prophecy', suggested he is WAY more unhinged and irrational than a sane person under a lot of pressure would be .. it made him seem full on crazy. which is NOT true to character. I can see him becoming oversensitive and defensive and sabotaging his relationships... but not so overtly. He just looks stupid and infantile this way...

I have the repeat on BBC3 right now - the part where George sees Herrick for the first time...the music playing on the psych ward? 'Johnny...Remember Me?'....portentous or what? I think i just got a shiver down my spine!!!

With regards the Herrick amnesia theorizing.. im pretty sure Watkins spells it out in the above video saying Herrick does NOT remember, but his manipulative instincts are still with him, and he's using the tactics that he naturally is disposed to, to mess with those around him and gain the upper hand, while he tries to work out who/what he is and what he is capable of.

I fear Herrick may be manipulated as much as he is manipulating everyone. He has obviously been "driven" to come to Barry Island by something. The fact that he is not feeding yet has helped him to stay "innocent" until he gained entry into the house. He made a beeline for the attic and plays with a train set... we have already seen words appear on a doll's house. my very over active imagination tells me that the attic is a gateway to hell and there is a dark energy in the room that attracted him. maybe nina does "kill" mitchell because he will have to die and have a funeral for the police to delete him as a suspect and she as a nurse could call time of death.... of course she will first have to get over her selfrighteous ways... farfetched I know! OMG what if Herrick develops a bloodlust when the police turns up! What I look forward to most though is to see Herrick and McNair sqaure up against each other because it just has to come to that! I Will not think about this show for the rest of the week for the sake of my sanity!
