Children's television presenter Brian Cant, best known for Playschool and Playaway died on Monday 19 June aged 83.

Glastonbury 2017

The huge music festival from Worthy Farm began on Wednesday 21 June, with BBC Music live streaming over one hundred performances from the festival.

BBC Cardiff Singer Of The World 2017

Catriona Morison from Scotland, became the first British winner of BBC Cardiff Singer Of The World. The final was held on Sunday 18 June at St David’s Hall, Cardiff.

Proms In The Park

Ticket applications opened for this year’s BBC Proms In The Park at Castle Coole in County Fermanagh on Saturday 9 September. Applications can be made until Monday 10 July at 5pm.

Drama

Series 10 of Doctor Who comes to an end this weekend, an image released on Sunday of the series finale, sees Missy (Michelle Gomez) and the Master (John Simm) together for the first time.

Meanwhile, rehearsals are underway in Hull for a ground-breaking theatre production that will be broadcast on BBC Two Flood: To the Sea.

Factual

BBC One announced documentary The Betrayed Girls a feature-length documentary which hears from the real people at the heart of the story behind Three Girls.

Following the success of Great British Railway Journeys, Great Continental Railway Journeys and Great American Railroad Journeys, BBC Two has commissioned Great Indian Railway Journeyswhich will be presented by Michael Portillo.

BBC One also announced historical-crime series My Grandad Was Innocent, which will broadcast on BBC One in early 2018.

Entertainment

Strictly Come Dancing’s professional dancer line-up for series 15 on BBC One was unveiled on Thursday and includes three new fabulous female dancers alongside the return of viewers’ favourites.

On Friday, the line-up for BBC One's Celebrity Masterchef series 12 was revealed.

BBC Two commissioned House Of Games a new celebrity teatime quiz, hosted by Richard Osman. Also on the network, Sara Cox is confirmed to present Love In The Countrysidea programme helping single people living and working in the countryside to find love with urbanites seeking their perfect partner - and a dramatically different lifestyle.

The BBC’s award-winning virtual reality fairy tale, The Turning Forest, will be available later today for free on the Oculus Store for Gear VR.

Regional

BBC Cymru Wales has appointed Garmon Rhys as Head of News. He will lead the development of all news and current affairs services across online, mobile, radio and television.

Also in Wales, BBC Cymru Wales has announced plans for a major expansion in BBC Radio Wales coverage.

World Service

A group of the world’s leading international broadcasters, including the BBC is supporting the Bypass Censorship website that helps internet users around the world access news and information and BBC Africa broadcast stories of refugees in Africa on TV and Radio and online, to tie in with World Refugee day on Tuesday 20 June.

Radio

Woman’s Hour Takeover week 2017 will see five amazing women join BBC Radio 4 as guest editors from Monday 26 June.
