BBC Young Dancer 2017

Saturday saw the Grand Final of the competition that provides a platform for non-professional UK resident dancers aged 16-21. The five finalists performed in front of a panel of leading dance experts and the winner was crowned live on stage at Sadler's Wells by Darcey Bussell.

New technology

BBC Wales announced on Tuesday that it will introduce the new IP (Internet Protocol) technology across the facilities when it moes to its new BBC facility in Central Square, Cardiff.

Hay Festival

The BBC and Hay Festival revealed plans for coverage of this year’s event across television, radio and online.

Gay Britannia

On Monday the BBC announced a season of programming marking the 50th anniversary of The Sexual Offences Act 1967. Details of programmes across TV and radio were published in the Gay Britannia media pack.

National Audit Office review

The BBC Executive responded to the review - Managing The BBC's Workforce, welcoming the report which concluded that “the BBC’s approach to managing its workforce is securing better value for money than in the past, and is better placed to face the challenge of delivering more change in the future”.

Disclosures

On Wednesday the BBC published the latest details of expenses, gifts and hospitality and declaration of personal interests for October – December 2016 for senior managers who earn over £150k and/or those who sit on the BBC’s boards.

Drama

BBC Radio 4 released details of its first venture into virtual reality radio with ambitious new online audio drama Quake.

Music

BBC Radio 1 and BBC Learning unveiled the special guests, sessions, live music moments and Radio 1 broadcasts taking place during Radio 1’s Academy.

BBC Radio 2 music highlights for the Spring/Summer schedule were revealed on Tuesday.

The BBC will mark the 50th anniversary of the release of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles with a range of programmes exploring the stories around the recording, release and subsequent life of the album.

Radio 3 will broadcast a week-long season of Reformation programmes in which it will broadcast 95 pieces of music from the last 500 years which might never have been written were it not for the Reformation.

News

The draft Election Guidelines for the General Election became available on Tuesday, outlining a framework for how the BBC will deliver audiences impartial and independent reporting of the campaign.

CBeebies

The latest in the stellar-line up of CBeebies Bedtime Story readers was revealed on Monday. Chris Evans, star of Gifted (not to be confused with the Radio 2 presenter) will read Even Superheroes Have Bad Days, by Shelly Becker and Eda Kaban.

Daytime

On Friday BBC Two confirmed that Kate Humble is to host a brand new panel show, Curious Creatures, for a slot in early-peak.
