A quick round up of what's new this week on BBC iPlayer, programmes that are about to become unavailable, plus some hidden gems you might have missed.

The A Word

Series three of family drama The A Word arrives as a box set exclusively on iPlayer. The new series begins with Joe unsettled by the change in his life and rejecting his headphones. Series three will be available in full from Tuesday 5 May.

VE Day: 75th Anniversary

Several programmes will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, including Dame Vera Lynn: We’ll Meet Again on Thursday 7 May, Lee Miller - A Life on the Front Line on Saturday 2 May, and a range of programmes across VE Day itself on Friday 8 May.

The State Of Happiness

Eight part period drama set in the summer of 1969 telling the true story of a small coastal Norwegian town and how it changed after the International oil company, Phillips Petroleum, struck oil. Begins Saturday 2 May.

The Great British Intelligence Test

This Horizon special is measuring the brainpower of the nation in one of the largest intelligence experiments of its kind, giving us extraordinary new insights into the nation's mental abilities and what we can all do to make ourselves a bit cleverer. Available to stream from Monday 4 May.

The Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Society

Film. Historical romantic drama set in 1946, following a London-based writer (Lily James) who begins exchanging letters with a resident on the island of Guernsey, which was under German

occupation during World War II. Available from Saturday 2 May.

Dracula

Transylvania, 1897: terror awaits. The blood-drinking count has set his sights and teeth on London. A spine-tingling reimagining of the classic, from the creators of Sherlock.

Taboo

1814: James Keziah Delaney returns to London from Africa and is encircled by conspiracy, murder and betrayal. Dark, mesmerising drama with Tom Hardy.

The Nest

A couple find out how far they are willing to go to have a baby. Emotional thriller about love, trust and the true cost of buying whatever you want.

Twin

Norwegian crime drama thriller series, starring Kristofer Hivju from Game of Thrones. A young mother responsible for the accidental death of her husband asks his twin to assume his identity.

The King's Speech

Oscar-winning drama starring Colin Firth. The story of Prince Albert, Duke of York, who employed an Australian speech therapist to help overcome his stutter so he could address the nation. Available from Sunday 5 May.

Kinky Boots

British comedy starring Chiwetel Ejiofor. A man inherits his family's shoe factory. Things look bleak until he meets a cabaret singer who introduces him to a niche market. Available from Friday 8 May.

Monsters Vs Aliens

Family film. Sci-fi animation in which an ordinary girl is hit by a meteor and grows to over 49 feet tall. When aliens attack, she and her fellow 'monsters' are ordered to save the world. Available from Saturday 2 May.

Eight Minutes Idle

Offbeat comedy. Thrown out of home and with barely any money, a young call centre worker resorts to sleeping at the same humdrum office he spends his days. Available from Saturday 2 May.

London Kills

Drama series following the detectives of an elite murder investigation squad in London. Available until Monday 4 May.

Source Code

Film. Sci-fi thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal. A military pilot wakes up in someone else's body, apparently part of a secret time-travel mission to find a terrorist bomber before he can strike again. Available until Tuesday 5 May.

Astronauts: Do You Have What It Takes?

Millions dream of going into space, but how many of us have what it takes? Astronaut Chris Hadfield and his expert team will choose one winner from 12 exceptional applicants. Episode 1 available until Monday 4 May.

A Monster Calls

Film. As 12-year-old Conor struggles to deal with his mother's illness, he is woken from a recurring nightmare by the visitation of a tree monster at his bedroom window. Available until Wednesday 6 May.
