Bristles' Brief Guide To Giuseppe Arcimboldo
Here’s all you need to know in under a minute. Three, two, one.
Giuseppe Arcimboldo, an Italian Renaissance painter who couldn’t walk past a fruit bowl without thinking, “I recognize that face”.
Here’s one of his artworks. I tell you, that’s more than one of your five a day.
Some of his paintings were even reversible.
Is it a basket of fruit? Or is it a fruity head?
And it wasn’t just food that caught his eye.
He also did household items like this book-based painting called The Librarian. How very novel.
Arcimboldo was also the court painter for three Holy Roman emperors, including Rudolph II.
Oh, this guy’s Rudolph. That explains the red nose.
And there you have it. Giuseppe Arcimboldo, fantastical fruit painting maestro. Completed.
