The area of a parallelogram is found by splitting it into two triangles.
\(Area\,of\,bottom\,triangle=\frac{1}{2}\times 12\times 6=36cm^{2}\)
\(Area\,of\,parallelogram =2\times 36=72cm^{2}\)
