Décris-moi ton collège. - Describe your school.
Mon collège, qui a été fondé en deux mille six, est énorme et très moderne. Cependant, bien qu’il y ait plus de deux-mille élèves, le collège a une atmosphère familiale, on se sent en sécurité ici. Ce qui me plait le plus au collège, c’est la bibliothèque, où il y a environ trente ordinateurs, cinquante tablettes et des centaines de livres. J’en profite souvent et quand je serai en première et terminale, j’utiliserai la bibliothèque tous les jours.
My school, which was founded in 2006, is enormous and very modern. However, although there are more than 2000 pupils, the school has a family atmosphere, we feel safe here. What I like the most at school is the library, where there are around 30 computers, 50 tablets and hundreds of books. I make use of it often and when I am in years 12 and 13, I’ll use the library every day.

Qu’est-ce que tu étudies au collège ? - What do you study at school?
En Angleterre, il est obligatoire d’étudier les maths, les sciences, l’anglais et on doit faire une heure d’EPS par semaine. J’aime bien l’EPS. Par contre, je ne suis pas très fort en anglais et je pense que ça ne devrait pas être obligatoire. En plus, j’étudie le français, la technologie et l’histoire. J’aurais préféré étudier la géographie, mais ce n’était pas possible dans mon collège, ce que je trouve injuste. Plus tard, j’ai l’intention d’étudier les langues vivantes parce que je voudrais beaucoup voyager quand je serai plus âgé et parler des langues différentes serait un grand avantage.
In England, it’s compulsory to study maths, science and English and we have to do one hour of PE a week. I like PE. On the other hand, I’m not very good at English and I think it should not be compulsory. In addition, I study French, design and technology and history. I would have preferred to study geography, but it wasn’t possible at my school, which I find unfair. In the future, I’m going to study modern languages because I would like to travel a lot when I am older and speaking different languages would be a big advantage.

Parle-moi de tes profs. - Tell me about your teachers.
Alors, mon prof préféré, c’est mon prof d’EPS parce qu’il est sympa et il n’est pas trop strict. Par contre, je trouve ma prof de maths trop sévère et elle nous donne trop de devoirs. Mais comme j’ai de bonnes notes en maths, c’est sans doute une bonne prof quand même. Mon meilleur souvenir d’un prof, c’est quand j’étais petit, à l’école primaire. La maitresse était vraiment gentille et elle ne criait jamais. Elle me manque !
So, my favourite teacher is my PE teacher because he is nice and he’s not too strict. On the other hand, I find my maths teacher too strict and she gives us too much homework. But as I get good grades in maths, she must be a good teacher. My best memory of a teacher was when I was little, in primary school. My teacher was really nice, and she never shouted. I miss her!

Que penses-tu du règlement scolaire ? - What do you think of your school rules?
À mon avis le règlement scolaire est important car il faut être travailleur et bien discipliné pour avoir de bonnes notes. Hier mon prof d’anglais a puni un élève parce qu’il était trop bavard en cours et on ne pouvait pas se concentrer. Cet élève-là sera en retenue ce soir. D’un autre côté, je trouve que quelques-unes des règles sont ridicules. Je ne comprends pas pourquoi on ne peut pas mettre de maquillage et pourquoi on doit toujours enlever son manteau en classe. Parfois il fait vraiment froid en hiver.
In my opinion school rules are important because you must be hardworking and disciplined in order to get good marks. My English teacher punished a pupil yesterday because he had been too chatty in class and we couldn’t concentrate. That pupil will have a detention this evening. On the other hand, I think that some of the rules are stupid. I don’t understand why you can’t wear make-up and why you always have to take off your coat in lessons. Sometimes it is really cold in winter.
