Role play - At the cinema
Practise taking part in a conversation at the cinema. Read the instructions and prepare what you will say.
Scenario:
You are at a cinema in France. Your teacher plays the part of the cinema employee and will speak first.
The bullet points give an idea of what might be asked, so use these to prepare. Where there is an exclamation mark (!) a surprise question will be asked and where there is a question mark (?), you will need to ask a question yourself.
Vous êtes au cinéma en France. Votre professeur travaille au cinéma et parle le premier/la première.

Transcript:
Cinema employee: Bonjour, monsieur.
Customer: Bonjour, madame. Je voudrais deux places, s’il vous plait.
Cinema employee: D'accord. C’est pour quelle séance ?
Customer: La séance de dix-sept heures trente.
Cinema employee: Bien. Quel genre de film avez-vous vu récemment ?
Customer: J’ai vu un film d’action le weekend dernier.
Cinema employee: Voilà vos billets.
Cinema employee: Comment voulez-vous payer ?
Customer: Je peux payer en espèces.
Cinema employee: Bien sûr.
Customer: Ça fait combien ?
Cinema employee: douze euros cinquante s’il vous plait.
Translation:
Cinema employee: Hello.
Customer: Hello. I’d like two tickets please.
Cinema employee: Of course. For the film at what time?
Customer: At 17:30.
Cinema employee: Fine. What sort of film have you seen recently?
Customer: I saw an action film last weekend.
Cinema employee: Here are the tickets. How do you want to pay?
Customer: I’d like to pay with cash.
Cinema employee: Fine.
Customer: How much is it?
Cinema employee: Twelve euros fifty, please.
