In questions 8 - 12 you will be asked to respond to a particular image of a design
You must answer one question from the selection of five offered.
The questions are unpredictable but you can expect the question on the following design areas:

Key information
- There will be designs from different time periods.
- There may be designs from different cultures.
- You will be prompted to respond on three key elements of the design.
- This part of the question is worth 8 marks.
- To gain full marks, you must respond to all of the question prompts and make eight relevant, justified points.
- You will be asked to give an opinion giving two reasons.
- This part of the question is worth 2 marks.
- There are no right or wrong answers but you must justify and explain your comments to gain marks.
To prepare for these questions, you should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

- wearabilityHow practical an item is to wear. Factors that impact on wearability include comfort, mobility and suitability for an intended use or environment. (in jewellery and fashion design)
- use of layoutThe way that a page or document is set out with specific places for pieces of text or images., imagery and text (in graphic design)
- propertiesThe mechanical, physical or optical properties of materials that define how they behave in use. of materials used and their effect
- the visual elements – line, tone, colour, shape, form, pattern and texture
- materials and technique and their effects
- possible influences and sources of inspiration
- style
- decoration
- visual impact
- appeal to a target market/audience
