  • The question is divided into part (a) and part (b).

Part (a):

  • is worth 6 marks in total.
  • You will be asked to comment on three different elements of the selected design.
  • To gain full marks, you must respond to all of the prompts in the question and make six relevant, justified points.
  • You do not need to make the same number of points in response to each prompt.

Part (b):

  • is worth 4 marks in total.

  • >referring to the designer who created the work you discussed in part (a):
  • identify two influences on their work
  • To gain full marks, you must describe two ways in which these influences can be seen in any of their work. This means you must give one example for each influence.

There are many influences which impact on the work and practice of designers, including:

  • local, national and world events
  • different cultures and popular culture
  • their environment
  • living conditions and personal circumstances
  • family and community
  • politics
  • belief
  • gender
  • health and wellbeing
  • technology
  • developments in other areas, eg science, literature, music

Information given in response to part (b) must be factually correct. Marks cannot be awarded for points which contain incorrect information. Your comments must show that you have studied the topic.
