Changing from the first person to the third person

When responding to an interview, you could be asked to write sentences in Welsh about the person who is being interviewed, using the third person.

Read Kizzy Crawford's interview. You may be asked to give two facts in relation to what Kizzy says about the future. The first thing you should do is highlight the sentences where she talks about the future.

The key to finding this information is in the question Beth am y dyfodol Kizzy?

She replies:

Hoffwn i deithio o gwmpas y byd yn canu caneuon. Hoffwn i ganu caneuon sy’n rhoi neges. Hefyd, rydw i’n gobeithio cwrdd â llawer o gerddorion er mwyn gweithio gyda nhw a chreu cerddoriaeth newydd, gyffrous.

Question

Try to spot the first person expressions that you must change to third person. Which ones are they?

The next step is to change these expressions into the third person.

If you wanted to give two facts about what Kizzy’s plans are for the future, therefore, you could write:

Yn y dyfodol, hoffai Kizzy deithio o gwmpas y byd yn canu caneuon.

Hoffai hi ganu caneuon sy’n rhoi neges.

Mae hi’n gobeithio cwrdd â llawer o gerddorion er mwyn gweithio gyda nhw a chreu cerddoriaeth newydd, gyffrous.

There are many other forms you could be asked to change into the third person.
