In the past, technological advances were gradual and people had time to keep up. Since the 1990s, there has been an explosion of technological change and there ' s no sign of it slowing down. It also dictates rapid change, because of the rate at which things improve.
There are loads of digital channels and platforms now available - digital TV, digital radio, home computing, the internet, broadband, mobiles, PDAs, MP3 Players, mobile gaming, DVD and home cinema systems, digital photography, digital video....the list goes on.
So far, the BBC's been at the forefront of this digital revolution, for example developing Freeview, Digital Radio and advanced interactivity on bbc.co.uk.
