Labour councillors in Aberdeen have failed in a bid to have millions of pounds cut from the authority's capital budget.

They proposed projects such as the council's HQ move to Marischal College should be scrapped amid cutbacks.

A third River Don crossing and the pedestrianisation of the city's main Union Street were also targeted.

The council instead voted to cut about 600,000 from its capital budget, with no major projects affected.

Aberdeen City Council has a Lib Dem and SNP administration.
