Millions committed to council HQ

There have been calls for the Marischal move to be scrapped

More than �11m has already been committed to the building of Aberdeen City Council's planned new headquarters at Marischal College, it has emerged.

The final total is expected to be more than �80m.

The figures are revealed in a report looking at how money could be saved on capital projects in the city.

There have been calls for the move to be scrapped. However, a report has revealed that the �11.1m is already legally committed to be spent.

The council needs to make nearly �50m in savings and is reviewing all of its major capital spending projects.
