Rare breeds farm decision delayed

A decision on the future of Aberdeen's closure-threatened Doonies rare breeds farm has been deferred.

Aberdeen City Council was to consider a business plan proposed by a group hoping to take over the running of the farm, between Nigg Bay and Cove.

Friends of Doonies was set up earlier this year to fight plans by the local authority to close the popular attraction for children, amid cutbacks.

The group said it could keep the farm open at no cost to the council.

Campaigner John Sleigh told BBC Scotland: "We are confident that, if we change the set-up and take more money in, we are going to have a facility open for a long time."
