Protest over school closure plan
School march
Children with posters took part in the protest
Dozens of children and parents have marched in Aberdeen in a bid to save their school from closure.

They staged a protest on Tuesday afternoon against council plans to shut Victoria Road Primary.

The assembled protestors handed over a petition against the school closure to local councillors.

Aberdeen City Council has argued that the school in the Torry area is under capacity. The plans are now out to public consultation.

The suggestion is to close or merge a dozen Aberdeen schools.

Three other city primaries - Causewayend, Kittybrewster and Stoneywood - have been recommended for possible closure.

Others with a school roll well below capacity could merge.
