Sustainable Aberdeenshire members will be on the streets of Aberdeen later explaining why they think the �1bn project should be stopped.

The Trump International Links plan includes two championship golf courses, 950 holiday homes and 36 golf villas.

Mr Trump has insisted it would be good for golf, tourism and the environment.

Sustainable Aberdeenshire is made up of concerned environmentalists, local residents and community members who oppose the development.

Spokeswoman Lisa Leith said: "We'll be handing out flyers basically to give information as to the impact this property development is going to have.

"It's not really a golf course - it's a housing development and I think people really need to be aware of the situation."

Concerns have also been raised over the environmental impact of the resort.

November decision

However, on a visit to the north east earlier this week, Mr Trump insisted his plans would actually improve the environment, as well as creating a world-class facility.

He also claimed it was possible the project could lose a "great deal" of money.

Meanwhile, Aberdeenshire Council has revealed that a final decision on the resort, expected to come on 30 October, has been moved back until November.

The Formartine Area Committee meeting will now take place on 20 November, to allow consultation on survey material recently provided by the Trump organisation as part of the environmental assessment.
