Hope for young Aberdeen homeless
Homeless person
The plan will be considered by Aberdeen councillors
Young homeless people in Aberdeen could be considered a priority need when housing allocation is being allocated, under new plans from the city council.

If approved by councillors, it would mean people under the age of 26 would move up waiting lists for accommodation from next year.

It follows a pledge by the Scottish Executive to wipe out unintentional homelessness by 2012.

The city's Foyer homeless support charity welcomed the initiative.

Chief executive of the Foyer, Ken Milroy, said: "The young are some of the most vulnerable people we see.

"If you do not have support, no wonder some people fail and struggle."
