Cancer patient completes triathlon challenge
Jane Tomlinson
The events took place in London's Docklands
Terminally-ill cancer patient Jane Tomlinson has completed the London Triathlon for the second time.

Mrs Tomlinson, 38, from Rothwell in Leeds, finished the event in 3 hours, 39 minutes and 30 seconds.

That is slightly slower than last year's time.

The triathlon consists of a swim of 1.5 kilometres, a 40 kilometre cycle ride and 10 kilometre run.

Honours list

Her daughters Suzanne, 18 and Rebecca, 15, completed their own triathlons.

Mrs Tomlinson, who has breast cancer, has also run the London Marathon twice and earlier this year cycled 1,060 miles from John O'Groats to Land End.

She was awarded the MBE in the Queen's birthday honours list in June.

After completing this year's London Marathon she announced she was giving up major competitions.

But she changed her mind and hopes the triathlon will take the amount she has raised for cancer charities to 250,000.
