Roadmender decides to close down after funding is lost
Troubled music venue the Roadmender is to close just over two weeks after its annual grant of �58,000 was withdrawn.

Trustees decided they could not continue to operate after Northants County Council withdrew funding.

The Northampton centre ceased trading and liquidator BRI Business Recovery and Insolvency appointed.

John Warburton said: "Problems were caused by a downturn in trade and a loss of confidence since the council made the decision to withdraw funding."

The decision to withdraw funds was taken on 14 November after a county council review of the venue's business plan.

Roadmender, which organised community projects as well as promoting rock bands, recently lost its �110,000 annual Arts Council grant.
