Roadmender has lost its Arts Council grant |
The manager of a major arts venue in Northampton has called on the county council to help safeguard its future. Music venue Roadmender, which organises community projects as well as promoting top rock bands, recently lost its 110,000 annual Arts Council grant
Now Northants County Council is reviewing its 58,000 grant.
Roadmender's director Jon Gloersen said the county had been a great support to the venue, but it would be left in a "difficult position" if funds were cut.
"We're showing excellent growth and financial performance at the moment, but we'll need the County on board now in order to stabilise after the funding from Arts Council disappears," he said.

Next week future funding options for Roadmender will be debated by councillors on the community services scrutiny committee and a final decision is likely to be made by the council in November.
Cabinet member for community services Rosemary Bromwich said: "This is a very important decision the council has to make.
"Put starkly this council must decide whether to continue it funding of the venue or put this money towards new arts and culture initiatives and activities for young people throughout the county."
