| A Derby MP says too many of the city's council houses are being left empty despite being allocated for asylum seekers' accommodation. There is a waiting list of thousands for the houses that are not boarded up. Derby North's Bob Laxton said the list would shrink, and people would be homed, if the stock was used properly. Derby City Council's deputy leader Philip Hickson blamed "complicated bureaucracy" for the problem, but said the council is working on the problem.
