Public view city's revamp plans
Carlisle city centre
The plans involve regeneration over the next decade
Almost 1,000 people have visited an exhibition in Carlisle showing plans for the future development of the city.

Carlisle Renaissance sets out proposals for the next 10 to 15 years, with key areas including the shopping centre, West Walls and railway station.

The scheme was a direct response the effects of last year's devastating floods, which left three people dead and thousands homeless.

The exhibition at the Old Town Hall Assembly Room is ending this weekend.

Carlisle City Council leader Mike Mitchelson said: "There is much work to be done and some difficult choices to make in the coming months and years.

"But the tremendous support we have received for Carlisle Renaissance, not only from within the city but from our partners across the North West and in government, convinces me that we are on the right track."
