Truro City won the FA Vase in May at the new Wembley stadium |
Plans for a new multi-million pound football ground in Cornwall have been refused by councillors. The proposed 6m development for Truro City Football Club included five new pitches and a sports hall on the outskirts of the city at Kenwyn.
In June, Carrick District Council gave the initial go-ahead to the club to build on the site at Pencoose Farm, going against the advice of planners.
But on Thursday evening the Referral Committee reversed that decision.
Truro City Chairman, Kevin Heaney, said: "The reversal of the initial decision may thwart my ambition for the club."
He added: "I'll now have to rethink my plans for the development of City".
Opponents to the development have always maintained that the stadium plans "were not suited to a residential location".
