Previous plans for a 12m stadium were opposed by residents |
A decision over ambitious plans for a multi-million pound football stadium in Cornwall has been deferred by planners. Players, officials and supporters of Truro City Football Club had marched to Carrick District Council on Wednesday in support of the proposals.
The club wants to build a 6m pitch and training area at Kenwyn Hill.
But councillors have deferred a decision until a public meeting has been held to hear the views of more people.
Community facilities
People living near the Kenwyn site had opposed previous plans for a 12m stadium, saying the roads could not cope with the traffic.
The club's aim is for the new complex to be a "central sporting hub for the community".
It includes a floodlit, all-weather football pitch, two other full-size pitches, two junior pitches, four indoor five-a-side pitches and a clubhouse.
The local community would also be able to use a gym, conference rooms and bar and restaurant.
