Stephen Lawrence memorial
To view such turmoil Mr Brooks has had to endure leaves me feeling ashamed to be white. I can only hope Mr Brooks will one day find justice for himself and Stephen.
Mr Peter Green, UK

Stephen Lawrences' friend deserves an apology for what he has suffered. I am white and feel ashamed to be so after what I have heard. I wish I could put my arms around him and tell him I don't care, don't even notice what colour you are. I believed in justice. Now I just
I think racism stinks anywhere and in the police force where they have so much power it is downright dangerous and very wrong.

Val Norrs, Yorkshire, UK
believe that every racist in this country will have Stephen's blood on their hands forever. I wish his friend the very best with his book - I hope it gives him the loud and clear voice he deserves. Thank you, BBC, for giving the 'real story'. This has really opened my eyes to the other less famous but equally tragic victim of this crime.
Lorna Field, England

I am a teacher and want to show this programme to a group of Year 9 students who are extremely racist and find it difficult fo unpick the evidence of the McPherson Report.
Jackie Hayes, England

As a Metropolitan police officer I felt compelled to watch your piece about Duwayne Brooks and his account of what happened to him on that fateful night and during the investigation afterwards. I think there is no doubt that he experienced a horrific time and the result of the investigation and the subsequent inquiry needs no further comment. I do, however, feel that his free and sweeping remarks, tarnishing all who wear a police uniform, should have been balanced with an opposing view point.
Ian, Kent

Whenever I come out of school I always see police stopping black and mixed raced kids for nothing. I want to know why the police only stop non- white people and not all criminals?
Rochelle Leacock, UK

I found the programme interesting, disturbing, and provoking.

John Boyd, Barry, South Wales
I think Rageh Omaar is an excellent, clear reporter - and very brave. Does he ever have a day off?
Mary Mills, England

I think racism stinks anywhere and in the police force where they have so much power it is downright dangerous and very wrong.
Val Norrs, Yorkshire, UK

Needless to say, I am appalled by the treatment of Duwayne Brooks. I am even more appalled by the reports that Stephen Lawrence was left to bleed to death by British policemen. If true, then those officers need to be brought to account. I found the programme interesting, disturbing, and provoking.
John Boyd, Barry, South Wales

I am 12 and white. I would like to say I feel sorry for Duwayne that this happened and I hope the police buck their ideas up. This should never happen to anyone - black or white.
David Frost, England
