Gene Wilder - Producing Laughter
What is the difference between a comedian and a comic actor?
In a Hardtalk Extra interview broadcast on Friday 17th June, Gavin Esler spoke to veteran Hollywood comedy actor, Gene Wilder.

Gene Wilder starred in classic Hollywood movies like The Producers, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and Stir Crazy.

But his comic genius has been touched by the devastating illnesses of those closest to him, and by his lifelong struggle against his personal demons.

He explains to Gavin Esler why he likes "show, but not show business".

He also talks about his recent battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and how this has shaped his views on stem cell research.

HARDtalk Extra can be seen on Fridays on BBC World at 03:30 GMT, 08:30 GMT, 15:30 GMT, 18:30 GMT and 23:30 GMT.

It can also be seen on BBC News 24 at 04:30 and 23:30
