Concessionary Bus Travel Bill | AIM The bill will implement the pledge by Gordon Brown in the 2006 Budget to give free off-peak travel on local buses for over 60s and disabled people anywhere in England from April 2008. The bill will replace the Transport Act 2000, which affects England and Wales. �250m of additional funding will be allocated to the scheme, in addition to the �350m already allocated to give half-price fares. MAIN PROVISIONS Guaranteed free bus travel to eligible people from 9.30am until 11pm on weekdays and all day at weekends and on Bank Holidays Regulations will be introduced to harmonise concessionary passes across the UK Change in mechanism of reimbursement for bus operators for concessionary schemes Allow local authorities to give concessions on top of those outlined in the bill
