Senator calling for a GST debate
A Jersey politician is calling for a debate on price marking on the goods and services tax (GST) before it is introduced in the island.

Senator Len Norman wants the issue of how the tax will be applied to items properly debated before a date for its introduction is agreed.

Some want the 3% charge added on the total at the till.

But others, including Economic Development Minister Senator Philip Ozouf, want it added to each item.

He says a debate will delay the tax being brought in next year.
