GST to go-ahead despite surplus
The Goods and Services Tax will go ahead in Jersey despite an extra surplus of 14m this year.

The Treasury and Resources Minister says the rise was down to unexpected dividends from Jersey Telecom and the Jersey Electricity Company.

But Senator Terry Le Sueur said despite the extra money, the new Tax was still needed.

The 3% tax, which is to come into effect next year, will include nearly everything sold in Jersey.
