A Jersey politician has called for a new community centre to be created. La Pouquelaye School will close on Friday as the new D'Auvergne School opens in the autumn. Deputy Guy de Faye said it should be a centre for locals.
He said he did not want the building left empty after the school closed and that people in that area of town had no amenities at present.
Deputy De Faye said he had support for the idea from the public and from the Parish Constable, Simon Crowcroft.
The new D'Auvergne School will combine the students from the existing St Mark's and La Pouquelaye schools.
